I’ll be sad to miss the little CC gathering in San Antonio! :(( My husband will go with D. Maybe she can wear a name tag that says “ShrimpBurrito’s D.”
And congrats @Booajo ; I’ve been thinking about you tonight. Hope this buoys your S a bit after what must have been a rough week.
Wow what a great day on here! Congrats to everyone who got good news. Add my D to the pile for UVM, she was accepted today. We are still in for a long wait through March but it is still good news
@melvin123 thank you for the suggestion. I looked at the Naviance stats for the University of Toronto and UBC. Some students from her school have actually submitted apps to each. No one has enrolled at either. Acceptance rates are approx. 70% and 50% respectively. Her stats would appear to make her an almost lock. I just don’t know if she would go international or not. I’ll look more into it and see what she says when she’s not studying for 4 tests (2 finals) tomorrow.
BTW, a good friend of hers, a study buddy since 6th grade, just was accepted ED to Duke. She’s not feeling great right now.
I can’t believe all these amazing results. All of your kids have worked so hard and it’s very precious when they can actually reap such a wonderful reward for their efforts.
Aw @sushiritto, your D went for the hardest admit. It’s like skating all the way to the other end of the ice, magically moving the puck past all the defenders, taking a leap in the air to avoid a stick, taking the shot and having it just nick the goalpost. (How’s that?). But seriously, she did go for the hardest admit, so she should be proud of herself for putting it all on the line. She’s a great student, so she will have great options. It just stinks she has to wait until April now.
Since your D is interested in med school down the line, she has to be careful to stay at school in either the US or Canada. I’ve heard that Toronto has grade deflation, so you have to be careful with that one. But it would be really nice to get into a world class university and not have to worry about the holistic admissions process that leads to so much uncertainty. I have a love/hate relationship with holistic admissions.
WOW!! Too many congrats for me to tag all of you…but super proud of our CC Class of 2018 kids!!! And for those of you dealing with deferrals or rejections, keep your chin up because I truly believe that doors close for a reason and there is a better place for them.
LOVING the wonderful results that are unfolding and a big dose of encouragement to those waiting… your kids all sound amazing and having such supportive parents walking this walk with them - they are bound to land at great schools!
One of my D’s best friends got into Brown tonight and another into Yale! I’m scratching my head over here in disbelief, it seems surreal! (like it only happens in the movies!)
OK @2018/2022mom you have to share your secret: how did you make that heart emoji? I don’t see it in my list of options on the menu so I am very curious!! :-?
The congratulations can’t come quickly enough on this thread- wow a lot of results have come in today. Way to go 2018! So proud of my own kiddo, accepted ED to Colorado College today. Lots of excitement. And relief!
Don’t sweat it @2018/2022mom lol! You have answered my question! I did always wonder what would happen if I used the emojis on my phone, now I know! (But I rarely post from my phone) =))
