Here is a helpful website which let’s you compare up to four schools side by side.

It looks like App State and UNC Charlotte student stats are a bit higher, then Coastal and South Carolina.

Will she need merit to attend the OOS schools?

You can also do a school search on College Navigator with stats and major and state.

She might want add some more instate choices.

@EmpireFrontier JMU is now test optional. Does your daughter’s school use Naviance? IMO, your best bet is to use acceptance data that is specific to her high school.

Note that in the comparison link above, University of South Carolina is not included. SC State is included.

Alright folks, D has announced that she will have a decision at 5 PM today. We’re in California, so that’s PST. Here are the contenders:

Pitt - $25K per year (not quite full tuition)
Fordham - full tuition
Temple - full tuition + stipend
ASU / Barrett - full tuition + study abroad stipend
UCF - full ride

I have shared with her my inclination toward UCF (if she goes there, we will give her her college fund to spend how she likes after college). Last night she got an earful from a teacher colleague of her dad’s in favor of Fordham. (He’s a theater & NYC lover, as is D). She’s wearing her Pitt T-shirt this morning. And that’s all I have to go on - it’s anyone’s guess. Go ahead & take a guess if you care to!

@GertrudeMcFuzz of interest might be the consideration that room and board at Pitt is much less than at Fordham (NY).

My D paid about $11,000 for r&b her first year ($7,000 room, $4,000 meal plan), $10,000 her sophomore and junior year ($8,500 room, $1,500 groceries), and is looking at about $600 a month for rent in a shared off-campus apartment for next year.

Of course Temple, ASU and UCF are great choices as well!

Good luck with her decision.

<<======= It’s official! D is attending Notre Dame. Go Irish!!

Taxes, bleah!! I’m done, though, so at least they’re behind me for one more year.

@suzy100 !!! Congratulations! And bonus points for landing both kids at the same school!

@GertrudeMcFuzz I’m going to go with the shirt. I say Pitt!

@GertrudeMcFuzz, I’m going to go with Fordham. If I win, will you pay D’s enrollment deposit? $-)

Not official yet, but it looks like it’s Ithaca. He wrote an appeal that got them to meet him more than halfway, and my wife’s parents, who had been out of the country, we’re convinced to help out a little more. I didn’t go on the visit in the fall. They didn’t tour the Park School of communications, where he was accepted. He toured the facilities and talked to students and professors, and it was pretty impressive.

It was about a 6 hour drive from the DC area. When we left at 2pm the temperature was 88; when we arrived in Ithaca around 8pm the temp was 41.

UCF !!!

Congratulations @GertrudeMcFuzz !!

D looks like the weight of the world is off her shoulders. Now she’s getting excited & making plans. We’ve told her to “live with” the decision for a few days to make sure it sticks, then we’ll put the deposit in. Phew! What a journey. I can’t wait to see you all over on this side!

Congrats, @GertrudeMcFuzz !!

The most I have heard from S18 is that one school “is currently the frontrunner,” but also that “the others are so close.” The decision is SO hard!!

@mstomper, in defense of Ithaca, we are in PA and yesterday we had 80 F and today it’s in the 40s.

@GertrudeMcFuzz and @suzy100 Congratulations! Welcome to the station!

@mstomper I am so happy for your son that Ithaca is becoming a strong possibility. The Park School is amazing…it made it a diffficult decision for my daughter. And in New England we were in the 60s yesterday and the 30s today.

Saw that Elon and most of North Carolina are under tornado watches tonight. Hoping my daughter does not catch wind of this…she is high anxiety and this will surely come back in an inevitable stress night just before she heads off to school. Hoping all the folks in the south are safe tonight.

Congrats to all of you parents for making it this far. Time to break out the champagne for those that have decisions with time to spare!
D18 is off hitting Admitted Student days. I texted her to see if there was a front runner and this is what I got back, “Idk. I’m having a good time. I’ll talk to you when I get home.” One more visit to go next week. This tired mama just wanted a tiny little hint! >:P

Anyone have experience with UC Irvine? S is looking into it more as he is narrowing choices. He got in with honors but for whatever reason, we haven’t focused on it much. Any insights welcome!

Congratulations to those with decisions! Amazing results and solid decisions on this thread. I’m impressed!

Finally done. Bruin Day was decisive and S18 has chosen UCLA without even waiting for Cal Day next weekend (Berkeley is just too close to home). Was a close run thing with UVA Echols, but $33K vs $65K per year is a difficult hurdle to overcome.

And getting an Alumni scholarship at UCLA was the icing on the cake - only $1000 per year, but nice recognition (150 scholarships compared to 113,000 freshman applicants) and a very good opportunity for networking and internships.

But what a stressful process! I’m glad it will be 5 years before S23 needs to go through this (although I shudder to think what acceptance rates will be like by then!).

@Twoin18 Congratulations to your DS! We’ll probably “see” each other again on CC, as I also have S23!
And congrats to all the final decisions I’ve seen in the past few days. For those still waiting, hang in there.
