Parents of the HS Class of 2019 (Part 1)

@brooklynrye this is really exciting. I can’t wait to find out what happens!

@BrooklynRye I think visiting GW will help you make an informed decision. Good luck.

Thanks to everyone for the nice words about my D’s decision. I hope that all of those still waiting will have a truly satisfying result!

@BrooklynRye Wow! That is quite the curveball. I hope the visit brings plenty of clarity.

We had two decent admitted students days. Franklin and Marshall was very nice. Kiddo took a class from the college president, on reading medieval manuscripts. We met nice students, enjoyed the campus. But the whole time we were saying to each other, “It’s nice, but is it $60,000 nicer than our other choices?”

Gettysburg really rolled out the red carpet particularly for my kid. We went to the scholars reception the night before the tour and most of admissions staff made a point to come meet the kiddo and talk to him. They connected him with a current theatre major and kiddo ditched the reception to go to a rehearsal of Mamma Mia, which was loads of fun apparently. Kiddo also, after three years of “I am majoring in theatre theatre is my life” talked to several film majors and is considering a swap to that as his new focus.

Discussed all the options on the way home and the consensus is that we’re happiest with Gettysburg and are most likely to commit there, but we could be persuaded by F&M if they come up with more money for us. And kiddo is still pining after Swarthmore a little bit and intrigued by St. Andrews, so a commitment may not be a long term commitment if the long shots come through.

@ninakatarina - glad you’re getting closer to a commitment. Sounds like a great weekend.

@BrooklynRye - Congrats to your son! Sounds like a great option to consider.

Earrings in the shape of the Princeton shield were purchased at the campus store this morning. I think we have a decision.

Yay! Congratulations @Curiosa !

Congrats @Curiosa!
Ok so is anyone still with me waiting for a decision to be made? :frowning:
I had to wait until April 29th with my D17. This is too much.

So cool, Curiosa! Congrats!!
D is 95% there to making a decision. She wanted to give it a three day “cooling off period” before finally pushing the button. This one, can’t say she does not think things through ; )

Due to waitlists and a late notifying application, our decision may be overturned a week or two after we make the deposit. Frustrating!

S is officially a Bruin. UCLA! And found out yesterday that he’s one of the valedictorians. So thankful and blessed. Congrats to all those who made decisions.

@elena13 - yes, I’m still there with you, but we’re not even talking about it. I feel like, other than driving, my work is done. He is down to 3 choices, and we’re going to an accepted students day on Monday. I don’t expect a decisions before May 1. And then if he gets called off the waitlist, everything will change.

Congratulations to all on the decisions! So exciting!
@gzza73 - my kids spent a few days in LA visiting family. Came back with the usual haul of UCLA swag. Lol. Go Bruins!

@gzza73 Congratulations on your son’s decision! And on his being named valedictorian! That’s excellent. It’s a good week!

Congratulations on college selections! It’s very exciting.

@elena13 and @Trixy34 My S19 has not made his decision yet. He is down to 2. My D17 decided at the beginning of April, and just this extra 2 weeks seems like an eternity! Visited Villanova again and is at Tulane now with my husband. I am sure he will make his decision by Saturday. He is on a WL but thinking that is a longshot (and putting that sort of on the side as a very slim possibility).

Still waiting with both of mine …

I apologize in advance if I miss someone! Thanks for the advice on S19’s choices. I think S19 has made his decision but I’m waiting to see if it continues to stick. He doesn’t usually change it once hes made up his mind but we probably

The college puppies made me laugh. I say we are replacing kids with dogs. 3 kids, now we have 3 dogs, 2 of them are about 3. Married D 25 y.o. already has 2 dogs as well. We trade pics and snapchat videos!

@jjulesjenks congrats on connecting with a roomie! That has to be a relief.

@RightCoaster great that he found such a good fit!

@SJ2727 how was admitted students day?

@carolinamom2boys so great that both of your boys are so happy and will be together!

@bjscheel glad she had fun at prom! Good to have the repair done so easily.

@jellybean5 sounds like you’re in the middle of a busy month!!!

@rmsdad @zipstermom @Curiosa @gzza73 congrats on the decision!!

@BrooklynRye what an incredible honor!

@ninakatarina good luck with the choices!

@drewsmom17 , thanks for asking, D19 had a great time! Full of excitement about starting!
Looking forward to hearing decision confirmed for your S!

Congrats to all the decisions and other good news. I hope that there are more happy decisions in the near future. To those still in the decisions stage, hold in there, your kids will need to make a choice eventually. Even teens can only agonize for so long before they actually officially make the decisions that they probably knew they would make weeks ago… I send you strength and booze to help you all survive until then!

Thanks @drewsmom17
