Parents of the HS Class of 2020 (Part 1)

Our scores weren’t supposed to be posted until the 11th, but I just went on to Naviance for the heck of it and they are there. S improved 170 points, but last year was low so we were hoping for a big jump. He did some studying on Khan but now we know he has more to do. Surprised that as an engineering major his English score was higher than math.

@typiCAmom any word on NSLI-Y? Looks like emails are starting to arrive. keeping my fingers ctossed!

Good luck to the NSLI-Y hopefuls. I thought my D18 was a great candidate but she didn’t even make it past the first round. It is so very competitive!

@3scoutsmom, fingers crossed and breath held for PSAT score and NSLI-Y would be icing on the cake.

@3scoutsmom, yes, it was a second rejection for NSLI-Y today, didn’t even check PSAT. Hope your kids have better luck

@homerdog - possibly they have religious reasons for testing on a Sunday.

Our Naviance has nothing uploaded yet. Maybe next a couple of days. Otherwise we will find out next Monday.

My D was also rejected by NSLI-Y, for the second time. I really don’t know what they are looking for, I thought she would at least make semi-finalist this year. She seems okay with it. Onward and upward, I guess. Shrug.

Our HS has not even uploaded DD’s August SAT score yet. I guess we will be waiting until 12/12 for her PSAT score in the CB account. Why pay for tools like Naviance if they are not used?!?

My youngest didn’t even apply to NSLI-Y it really is more selective than the tippy top schools. Our highly competivie high school has only had two finalists EVER DS20 isn’t up for that level of competition. My DS18 has applied for the CLS which is similar but for college students.

I’m surprised I haven’t crashed our school’s Naviance site with the number of times I’ve checked for PSAT scores though.

LOL! =))

My d20 doesn’t want me to check Naviance. I guess we will find out next week unless the counselors call them in and tell them (which they have done in the past).

@janiemiranda does your school call all kids or just the National Merit contenders?

Our school uses Aeries but is in no rush to get testing data put online. We also have Naviance but the only data (GPA, test scores, etc) on Naviance is if the student chooses to update their profile.

@lkg4answers In the past they have called them all down in alphabetical order that way nobody really can figure out how anyone has done on the test unless they choose to tell someone themselves.

Why? I would have totally done it already and not told her if it bothered her that much. I am the type of person that can’t wait to know.

@suzyQ7 I guess she wants to find out when the rest of her class does.

So, a classmate of my daughter received an email on Friday to create a College Board account, and we still have not received an email. Should I be concerned? Do the emails go out in waves?

@icydove The email came out to notify people that haven’t yet created an account to get one set up. The actual scores won’t be uploaded to it until next week.

I think that solves the mystery. I had forgotten we had created an account 3 years ago to find testing locations. Even though it is not the email address she gave on the PSAT, they tied her test to that original account. It shows that she took it and scores will be available soon. I was getting worried that her test was lost or something!

DD said she checked her College Board account and her PSAT score was there. All of her friends’ scores are also available. I don’t know how that happened, but I’m not complaining!
