Parents of the HS Class of 2020 (Part 1)

There is absolutely no information in my son’s Naviance account, just his name and name of his school.

Is this normal? ( I never bothered to use Naviance with the other kids, so don’t have a clue if I’m supposed to see anything else.)

Awesome @3scoutsmom

I am hoping for an all or nothing score.

Nothing on the edge please.

My d20 still doesn’t have her score and just wondering how many of your kids that got what seem to be qualifying scores got the promotional emails from colleges (targeting NMFs) in the last week or so? No emails from any different schools for my d20 and I’m trying to figure out if that is a bad sign

@Waiting2exhale Took me a little while to find it (though D’s are still not posted). You have to go to ‘About Me’, then ‘Test Scores’. Have you found that page?

Yes, @momzilla2D! Thank you very much. I spent so much time in there last night after coming here to CC, and then emailed a counselor at the school this afternoon for info, but probably too late in the day for him to respond to me.

OK. Kid did very well; he’s pleased.

Thank you so much.

Has anybody gotten mail from the National Student Leadership Conference related to medical and health care?

@Nicki20 My daughter got that but she isn’t interested in attending. I think a couple of her friends did some of the other programs they offered last year. I didn’t hear what they thought about it though.

@janiemiranda no results here yet but same schools still sending the same e-mails - Drexel, TCU, Clemson, Univ of Georgia, Tulane, etc. Lots of emails for expensive summer programs at places like Duke, Harvard, Columbia. I found the USF “now that PSAT is over” e-mail about national merit scholarships in the spam folder. :))

I try to click on the link and see if the url gives any clue as to what subgroup they are targeting.

No emails mentioning NMSF here. My gut is she will not make the California cut, it is just much too high for a kid who is better at math.

Thanks @lkg4answers and @VickiSoCal I guess we will all be out of our misery next week

@VickiSoCal did you look in your spam folder? Even when I marked it “not spam” it didn’t to into the in-box but went into the gmail “promotions” folder. It was sent on Dec 4 and the url doesn’t look like it was a targeted email.

I also found an e-mail about Clemson Honors College that was sent on Dec 5.

@3scoutsmom- Congrats on the great score! @Glitterbug - What’s this patience thing you speak of? My DS and DH are so proud of me for not contacting the GC-it’s become a daily joke in the family. I guess waiting is good practice for next year, when patience will truly matter.

@Redslp, lest I sound saintly, I am the least patient person I know when it comes to stuff like this. I JUST WANNA KNOW AND I WANNA KNOW RIGHT NOW. But I’m trying to rally and learn some patience, or next year is going to be a nightmare. Really I’m just super proud of how hard my daughter worked to prepare for the PSAT. She is awesome. I feel like a lazy nincompoop by comparison.

I’d feel better if mine had spent 30 seconds preparingz.

PSAT results finally posted on our hs Naviance this morning. The bad news is that it’s definitely too low for NMSF in CA (216). The good is that it’s not on the bubble and we don’t have to worry about it any more, plus the actual SAT score was quite a lot higher and that’s the one that counts for admissions.

@washugrad, I like your perspective! (And I think that’s where S be, though in a different high-cutoff state, come Monday.)

@washugrad @HarrietMWelsch
Same here. D’s still haven’t posted, but we’re not expecting hers to be above the state cutoff. If it is, we’ll be pleasantly surprised. But we’re still excited to see her scores because she felt really good about it.

D’s scores not posted yet, but that’t Ok. Nine hours till deadline, neither teacher rec uploaded :frowning: trying to keep focused on other things. Our head GC posted 60 messages on naviance since school start about SAT prep, local internships and scholarships. Is that low, high, or average?

@typiCAmom Our GC has posted only about 15 messages since Sept, primarily about weekly reminders of Adcoms from various colleges visiting our public high school. If kids are relying on our GC’s they will probably end up at the local community college for 2 years : ) and is the reason we hire a private counselor on an hourly basis as needed to help navigate college admissions.

No communications from GC at all. That’s why we do everything ourselves.
