@amsunshine Thanks–super surpising, but we’ll take it!
DD20 got her acceptance to Penn State today. Had not expected to hear back this soon so that was nice. She just applied on 10/30.
@voyagermom , Congratulations!!! Great job to your DD20!
Congrats!!!
DD got accepted to Seton Hall in NJ two days ago. No info on finances yet . It is at the bottom of her list but it was nice to have the one acceptance.
@voyagermom Congrats!
@holychild In the same boat. It’s so nice to potentially have options!
D20 accepted to the nursing program at UDel. I hear a lot of good things about the program. Have not visited yet.
@bigmacbeth Congrats! I don’t know anything specific about their nursing program but a good friend of mine has a son there in his sophomore year as a bio/secondary ed major and he’s been very happy there. And in case you are concerned about its reputation as a party school, he is not a partyer and found a great group of friends who also are not into the party scene.
@bigmacbeth Congrats to your D20, I hear those direct entry nursing programs are very competitive and UDel is a good school so that is great.
@bigmacbeth - S19 is an OOS mechanical engineering major at UDel (btw - you will be corrected and told to say UD or Delaware ;)) The school took all of his AP and DE credits so he is technically a junior. So far so good!
His older cousin graduated in May 2018 with a nursing degree and was extremely happy with her time at UD. She had an amazing job right away.
Congrats on all of your D20’s acceptances! Lots of great options!
One more app done, thank you’s for LOR written, portals so far logged into and I have that info now too. Love checking things off the list. DS20 has a few more apps to get out for RD and then we can step back from all this for a few months. I have promised to give him a free week from all of this so going to stick to that.
@bigmacbeth So exciting—congrats. I loved UDel and was disappointed my son didn’t choose to apply. It’s such a pretty campus.
My D is visiting her top choice today, taking classes, meeting with a few students in her major and lunching with the RA of her choice of Living Learning communities. My fingers are crossed that it goes really well (and of course that they accept her with reasonable merit too!)
Are your DCs shadowing students and visiting classes? My D is doing this at her top 3. Only one school gave us the ‘we don’t do that here – contact the department directly if you want to take a class’ . I thought that was a pretty standard thing to do. My older 2 did it at every single school that they considered.
My D20 just got contacted for her first interview with a local alum for one of her reach schools. So nervous but excited for her!
@mugglemom not common at schools DD is considering but will have some opportunities at admitted students days.
@MuggleMom Our ds is spending a day like this at our state flagship on Veteran’s Day. I think it’s a great idea.
Update: my DS came home, raved about her visit and said ‘I found my people ‘
Fingers crossed while we wait for an acceptance and potential merit award.
DS is going to request a special visit with sitting in on a class and hopefully meeting someone from the LLC. I think that would be very helpful for him in his decision.
Acceptance to ED school received today (with top merit offered!!) We are beyond happy and grateful to be done with this process and get the best result we could have imagined…need to send deposit in first thing tomorrow, still celebrating tonight!
