For the APUSH D21 had the Manifest Destiny question. Her goal was to analyze at least 3 documents and try to get 6-8 points. She was able to do the three- hate to tell her teacher, but there was no conclusion paragraph! She downloaded to a PDF and submitted a file.
@burghdad hope your D is feeling better. Weâve done a few telemedicine appointments recently, and they were useful. Keep us posted. Impressive that she thinks she pulled off a pretty good APUSH test with a fever. Ugh.
@burghdad - sending wishes for a speedy recovery for your D21.
Please let us know how she is doing, @burghdad !
Said a prayer for your kiddo that it is nothing at all @burghdad . We had a moment a couple of weeks ago when someone surprised me at the door to do a kind deed and caught me completely off guard. They did not have a mask, nor did I. I saw them holding a gift and flowers and apparently thatâs all it took for me to lose my ever loving mind for a minute. Two days later their teen was tested for Covid and I anxiously awaited the results. It turned out to be a different virus.
I learned my lesson. The Pope could show up and I will wave at him through the window and tell him to bless me from his popemobile.
@burghdad , hoping she is feeling better.
Thanks to all for the kind words. Did telemedicine yesterday and that doctor would not order a test either. It is so stupid. She had fever, headache, dizziness and nausea. Finally my Dr. brother called in an order. Burghmom and D21 currently at health center getting D21 tested. Should know in a couple of days. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the update @burghdad Hope she feels better soon. And glad she finally got the test!
Thank goodness you were able to get this far through the system! Scary, all the roadblocks. We will be keeping our fingers crossed that she is feeling better fast. Keep us posted, @burghdad !
@burghdad What the heck? Thatâs crazy. Glad you have a relative is a doctor who could order the test and she was able to get tested.
@burghdad So much for test and trace! Glad you were able to pull strings to get some answers. Fingers crossed for a good outcome for you all.
@burghdad did the doctor say why no test? Were there symptoms he needed to see in order to order one? Coughing?
Hope itâs a negative and she is feeling better quickly. The struggle you had to get a test with those symptoms is ridiculous.
But I thought âAnyone who needs a test can get one!â (sorry, couldnât resist)
Hereâs hoping for a negative result!
Happy Sunday everyone. Hope all your 21âs have had a nice break this weekend before another week of APâs. We received an email from Advanced Placement Program. It appears they are addressing the upload problems with allowing students to email their answers in if they are unable to upload. Thought I would share in case you havenât seen thisâŠit is from the email I received.
Submitting Exam Responses
Beginning Monday, May 18, and continuing through the makeup window, if your student is unable to upload their response due to a technical disruption, theyâll be able to email it to us immediately following the conclusion of their browser-based exam. If this happens during their exam, they will follow instructions on how to email their response on the page that says, âWe Did Not Receive Your Response.â The email address that appears on this page will be unique to each student.
At least they are somewhat accepting the issue is on their end and addressing the problem at lastâŠ
Around here, doctors arenât sending people out for tests because:
- The results wonât change their treatment plan. If you show symptoms, theyâll take the âbetter safe than sorryâ route.
- Results arenât reliable (lots of false negatives and false positives).
- If you donât have it, no need to put you in an environment where you could get it.
- If you do have it, no need to expose you to other people.
We received the AP email as well and Iâm surprised no one at College Board came up with a back up plan prior to testing. I was concerned leading up to testing that uploads would be a problem since I thought it would not be fun to have to retake a test due to technical difficulties. I am glad it is being addressed now, but originally the only backup plan was to take it again?
@eb23282 arenât there safe ways to get a test? Drive through testing? Arenât all states to the point where everyone who might have the virus get tested? Certainly if @burghdadâs D were in college, they would have gotten her a test. And not sure how public health authorities are making any plans if they arenât getting good data on how many people are sick!
Interesting how different states do things differently. Here, (Illinois) you donât even need a doctor referral. Just head to one of the Department of Health drive through sites. They donât even ask you why you want a test. You give them your phone number and drivers license, they give you a self test and call you with the results in a few days. Easy peasy. Only issue would be if the site runs out of tests on the day you try to go. If you have a doctorâs order, you can go to a testing site that takes appointments and it might be quicker, but not necessary.
