@JanieWalker my brother has tried for my niece but no luck. He said CB said the email would come out tonight - but I know their emails are notoriously late. He lives in NYC and locations fill up fast so he’s trying to get on it fast!
@homerdog Maybe have your daughter try a different mask? There are some that extend farther out from the mouth that provide a little air pocket for breathing and talking but are still form fitting around the nose and chin. I can wear the two-layer woven cotton ones for quite a while and they are said to be as effective as a standard disposable medical mask (not N95 - those are highly effective and for that reason are also stifling)
Congratulations to all on successful submission of APs, and internships and jobs and band positions , etc. D21 is signed up for ACT in June, we are in PA not in yellow til one week prior, can’t imagine they will go on as scheduled, may just bag it.
@homerdog Thank you for the recommendation on the book, hope it decreases anxiety around essay writing. D21 summited essays for AP seminar this week, don’t think she will be writing anything in the near future.
FYI D18 just finished sophomore year at Pitt, and they did a good job transitioning to online…professors very accessible, choice of P/F vs letter grades after grades were in, timely moveout and refunds of room/board.
I appreciate the information on how students are adapting their college search, it certainly will be different than D18, thanks for sharing.
We got an email from D’s HS counselor earlier in the week saying that we’ll get an email from CB today/tonight with info for early SAT registration. Being a little antsy, I’ve been attempting to register D last night, after midnight and then this morning. No luck.
Students who: a) haven’t taken the test yet and b) had their June test date cancelled represent almost literally the entire world’s population of SAT test takers. :lol:
D also had her March and May tests canceled too.
I told D21 to check her email constantly. Looked like I could get in and register her for August this morning…and then I couldn’t. I did sign her up for a July ACT just in case. Which will probably end up being canceled.
Yes, I’m under the impression that it will open up sometime tonight. More vague than I’d like, but I haven’t tried yet and am constantly checking email (and S21 checking his).
A friend’s son had committed to a small private college and they recently announced they are closing down for good.

I just got an email message from our local tutoring company stating that test registration will open tonight.
Registration is open.
I only could change D’s registration from June to August. Thus far, I can’t register for September or October.
Arg, CB keeps giving me an “error” message whenever I get to the last part of completing registration.
Are you sure? The registration button has been there for several hours, and it has been letting me get partway through the process but not allowing completion of the process (still, as of 3:36). It’s not “tonight” yet, so I’m thinking it’s still simply not open/functional yet.
It let me get almost all the way through this time. Earlier today, I couldn’t get as far as I did just now before the error message popped up, if that means anything (it probably doesn’t).
Even though it’s not possible yet (at least for me) to get through the SAT registration process, I can see which test centers will be available for us on the different dates (we’re limited by virtue of needing a seat with accommodations).
For August, it’s the same place S21 took it last time - public school (that he doesn’t attend), only 10 minutes away. He’s familiar with it from last October, so I’m hoping to get that one.
He said he is motivated to try one more time in September as well, and for that date our two closest options are different - one is a private school and one is a public. So now I’m trying to predict which is more likely to stay open for testing. Impossible to predict, of course, but…thoughts ?
@JanieWalker try again, this time trying to change the June registration to a later date (instead of starting a new registration). I think I was just successful.
Absolutely 100% sure. I was able to change D’s June registration to August and received email confirmation. But I cannot complete the process for future test registrations though.
@sushiritto thank you! Your comment about changing the registration was so helpful. I had been simply trying to register instead of changing the June registration. Thanks to your comment, I’ve been able to get S21 registered for August. Now if only we knew whether tonight is when we’d be able to sign up for a completely new registration (in my case, an additional Sept date). Thank you! (And also, how frustrating is it that we didn’t get an email from CB giving us these exact instructions/timing instead of being so vague)?
For September, there are only two schools listed on my list. For October, there are 5 or 6 schools listed. However, CB won’t let me complete those registrations.
But we got August!

She is also now registered for a July ACT, so if that happens too then her bases should be covered.
She should still have one more SAT2 score though and I can’t register her for that, but hopefully colleges will understand (they still like SAT2 scores for homeschoolers).
