Your son has great stats. Did you read what @legacymom1 shared about her experience on the USC forum? It is okay for USC to drop on his list. Just make sure that he has a decent chance to get into the schools that are moving up to replace it. Come April 1, he will have his acceptances in hand and he can re-evaluate what he likes and dislikes about each school.
