Parents of the HS Class of 2024 (Part 1)

Thank you ! It’s funny to feel that years of effort have culminated in this for them both at the same time - we are full of gratitude and ready to enjoy the holiday break. However, ,we know that it could have easily gone any different direction for either/ both of them. Congrats on Williams, btw, it was on D24’s RD list if ED didn’t work out! Amazing school.

I am sure I would feel the same way after my sons college decision is done. I have mixed feeling abouts S24 not applying for ED. I would have loved the decision to be done but at the same time I am not sure what I would do

Maybe we’ve been saving up the good luck!

And Club Deferral is not so bad. A little crowded, but a fun bunch . . . .

S24 always planned to ED at a school nearby that’s he’s loved his whole life. This Fall he decides he wants to see all his options and does SCEA instead.

April didn’t seem so far off then, now as we sit with a deferral in December it feels like a lifetime in limbo. :upside_down_face:

D24 got into Vanderbilt:black_heart::yellow_heart:. She is thrilled!! There were several schools she was excited about but Vandy was her favorite. Make my heart full to see her so happy. Wishing all of you a great outcome on this crazy and stressful journey!

So after a little experimentation, it turns out I love a Gimlet variation with The Botanist gin (from Islay in Scotland), lime juice, and orgeat for the sweetener.

I looked around and as far as I can tell, while I am not the first person to make an orgeat Gimlet, it does not appear to have a well-recognized name.

So, at least in NUM’s Pub, this will henceforth be known as a “Deferral”.

Good name for it.

I am surprised just how many deferrals that have been on here today.

Go Dores!

And for some schools it has been crickets on CC. Does make one realize how the ED pool is so much smaller than RD.

Congratulations! We haven’t had a chance to see Hamilton but I have heard outstanding things!

This is so outstanding! I am so thrilled both your kids got hoped for news! As a fellow mom of twins, I know how hard it would have been otherwise so I am especially happy your whole household is celebrating together

Is the Botanist very herbaceous or more traditionally juniper berry flavored? I like this one (sadly, unavailable most places). Gin | Truro Vineyards of Cape Cod. I hadn’t had gin for years before finding this little gem and it got me back on the wagon.

Kinda both!

At base it seems like a pretty classic juniper-heavy UK-style gin with a light citrus zest. But their whole shtick is a bunch of the botanicals are actually foraged from the local area. It is definitely not overpowering, and in fact I would describe it as a well-balanced gin. But it is still a very interesting gin nonetheless, and you can certainly pick up on the unusual floral and herb notes even in a cocktail.

It actually reminds me a bit of one of my personal favorites, Bombay Sapphire East, but minus the peppery notes.

I’ve never had Dry Line, but it looks fantastic (in every way).

It is fantastic. Not sure if they ship, but if they do it is worth a try if you are a gin lover.
