Parents of the HS Class of 2024 (Part 1)

Oh definitely! D24 wishes that the senior class had selected to go to Disneyland instead, but they all wanted to go to the beach. It’s going to be cold and rainy! We have big rain ponchos left over from a WDW trip from a couple of years ago…I’m going to suggest that The Child bring one + an umbrella. I’ll probably get an eye roll along with a “Whatever!”

Thanks. The waiting game has been tough on S24. So any sign of potential good news is welcome.

I would send my 12 year old daughter to college tomorrow without a second thought. Her brother . . . I might have to send her with him to help him find the cafeteria

William & Mary is a great school! Fingers crossed!

I believe this is what’s referred to as “the cypher card,” which functions at W&M as a likely letter.

My husband and I were discussing the weekend what the laundry situation would be. I said “well my younger sisters were a disaster but my parents got them a laundry service so maybe that will be available” (I do have some resentment about having to do my own laundry).

Then I remembered and said to my husband "but he would still have to put it in a bag by the door . . . "

Soooo happy for you and your son! I’ve been following your journey (which has been easy, between your son’s SAT score and imagining him being 6’7" 280 blond/blue, hammer in hand).

Thank you so much. And congratulations to your droids on Michigan. There is still a long way to go, of course, but it is nice to get some good news - especially given the competitiveness of this application season. Unfortunately, S24 is a mere 5’10" although he does have blonde hair and bluish eyes.

That’s because she’s 12  they don’t lose their minds for a few more years!

I was thinking that as I wrote that- maybe the hormones eliminate the common sense.

The umbrella might not be helpful with the wind but plenty of extra socks and shoes!

I once tried to reserve a library book for S18 titled “Smart but Scattered”. Of the 4 copies in the system, 3 were overdue and one was marked Lost. :joy::joy:
(S18 now has a job, apartment, and girlfriend who loves to organize his closet lol)

That is really funny. As someone with ADHD however, I admit when someone suggested that book to me I thought “great idea!” and then discovered when I went to order it on Amazon that I had bought it 2 years previously and it has been sitting IN MY BEDROOM for the last two years. I should probably read it.

D21 got that WM cypher postcard! (No engineering so D23 didnt apply)—-she was so happy! Early good news in a long RD season is just amazing, especially at such a fantastic school. It is definitely a likely letter— congratulations to him!

Thank you.

I follow him (on TikTok) and love his content!

We are in the same boat as many of you….waiting for more info! Waiting to hear about acceptance to D24 top choices (April 1??), waiting to hear about merit from another option, and trying to sketch out visits. It is very hard to be patient.
I get excited and attached to each and every school while D24 feels like nothing has been quite right. We are both scared about her top choices not coming through (I would call one a reachy target and one is a safety for acceptance but a target for the merit). These boards are filled with unexpected results and many kids at her school with unexpected deferrals and rejections.
Crossing fingers for ALL of the parents and kiddos here. It has helped me so so much to read your posts, even though I don’t comment a ton.

Thank you!

In the past they have sent out postcards right around this time which is their form of a likely letter. I think he is in and they see him at the top of their applicant pool!
