Parents of the HS Class of 2024 (Part 2)

Love swim meets at Brown! My 14 year old was .04 from a sectional cut :weary: She’ll be there next year. So many great places to eat in the area. We’re there at leas 4 times/year for meets. Good luck to your swimmer!

Oh that hurt for sure. Next year.

Thank you. If going to be our first time there! Ithaca was pretty good but I DID NOT want to go to Christiansburg. I’m so gladded they added the extra site.

She will definitely get there next year!

Parent of swammer here. Spent a lot of time at that pool! Eastside Pockets is 2 blocks from pool! Order some falafel for me, please. A little farther afield, but a nice mile or so walk from pool, is Seven Stars bakery (on Hope St.). Good coffee and chai.

After our Sectionals, my son and mate indulged in a grotesque amount of McDonalds.:face_vomiting:

They promised themselves this meal all swim season.

D24 only has 2 reaches left. She will hear from one this week and the other end of March. I expect waitlist on the first and rejection for the second. If either come through and with a good aid package (and since they are CSS profile schools, I anticipate an initial aid package) then her whole current mindset may be turned on its head. So in a way, I’m hoping for the rejections because it’s taken a while for her to go with the mindset of ā€˜love the one who loves you back’. We have 3 more visits to go but her top 2 are the one who has given her an amazing scholarship package and the one who gave her enough that we can swing it with just the federal loans. This month is going so, so slow.

One more decision down! (Waitlist, Northeastern). I must say, I quite liked not knowing it was coming because I didn’t have a chance to stress about it. I think it probably helps that both C24 were both working under the assumption that getting in there was a huge long shot. They’re not bothered, so yay!

Rejected to NEU here! But same situation here.

D24 rejected by Northeastern. I feel kind of dumb–I didn’t know they were the only school of the four left that was need-aware. Oh well! Now I can hate them all I want.

Northeastern also plays yield protection game I think.

One down, many to go. NEU waitlisted. We visited the school a month ago and S24 liked it the least. We will probably decline the waitlist.

Obviously, I don’t know you. But from everything I’ve seen in this forum and throughout CC, you’re one of the sanest people out there!

I am convinced half the reason swimmers are so much faster these days is nutrition. DH talks about going to Pizza Hut and each ordering their own deep dish pizza between prelims and finals. At national meets!

Same here. D24 waitlisted but not bothered at all. 6 more to go!

They do, but is this RD? At our schools RD to NEU or Tulane you might as well just burn your 80$ instead.

RD they have to make sure most of them join to keep the yield. So they will definitely do it if they do it for EA. They don’t have to do it for ED1 and ED2.
My son applied through SCOIR and therefore he did it free.

Pizza Hut deep-dish pizzas were the bomb back in the day!

I do not dispute that, but I might have preferred to plop myself in front of the TV afterwords.

Good old days when we ate that stuff with no guilt!

When my kids were younger, they did year-round USA Swimming. And here in AZ, all the practices and meets are outside. Even in the winter when it’s 40 degrees at 7:30 am for warm up before the meet starts.

I do not miss that. :joy:

Austin College sent D24 her estimated fin aid this evening. It came in right where I expected it to. She’s at work right now, said will not discuss with El Padre until tomorrow and then only when she’s not hangry. :joy:

DH is fit to be tied right now about having to wait some more. :joy:

I think that by the end of next week, we will probably be putting a deposit down at that school.
