D24 got into Emory (main campus)! I’m so proud of her and her hard work! For those who don’t know, Emory was a big reach for her. But her heart is already set on another school, so chances she will go there are low.

DD got scholarships to Vandy today- big surprise but has also now made her more excited for Ivy Day…we were in a place of mild interest and no expectation for tom so am worried tomorrow is now going to be harder than it was

I love how they time that - the day b4. Must be done purposely !! Good marketing strategy.

Good luck tomorrow.

I saw in the music thread that she got one for Blair. S24’s brother is a sophomore there now doing clarinet performance–he LOVES it! (He also loves talking about how much he loves Blair, so I can put her in touch with him if she’s interested!) Congratulations to her!

Congratulations! Sounds like our kids have some overlapping options

S24 is on a roll: he got into Vassar last night, Emory and Hamilton tonight (denied at Emory’s Oxford campus). I remain a little stunned by how many great choices he has. I think the Emory result is the clearest indication that it is indeed the magic of French horn helping him out; his SAT was a little low for Emory, but he had a lesson with the horn teacher there that went very well…and it’s more common to be accepted at Oxford and waitlisted or rejected at the main campus than the other way around. But there’s not much point in admitting him to Oxford for music since that’s not where the main ensembles are, so I suspect that’s what’s going on. Anyway, very happy and grateful that he has such great options and excited to see where he winds up! Last one is Brown tomorrow–anything’s possible (and he DID submit a video featuring the adorable kittens we were fostering at the time :joy:), but not holding my breath for that one!

We were so impressed by the music department at Emory and the orchestra director was amazing.

I really like it for him (his current wind symphony conductor used to also be the orchestra conductor at Emory)…he likes what he’s seen of music there but overall the culture might be a bit on the pre-professional side for his tastes. But we’ll see; very easy to visit!..I of course would love to have him close to home. Haven’t seen FA yet, either, but I just ran the NPC and it looks good, so fingers crossed. His main dilemma right now is music performance major vs. not–I know you’re familiar with that one!

It is precisely timed that way to put the kids on cloud nine. D24 just found out she got Gabelli Global Scholars at BC. We are now some what ambivalent to Ivy day. Secretly hoping for waitlist so that there’s no temptation or rejection. Congrats to PP on Vandy, ridiculously tough admit this year.

That is so awesome

Seeing all the results today is so exciting!

Our kids are living parallel lives…S24 got waitlisted at Gtech last week. We were hopeful based on Naviance data as a student from his school with lower stats, not as many ECs got into last year. that still stings a bit. I know different years not the same-different buckets etc. I was rooting for Gtech and told DS to go on the waitlist but treat as rejection and move on.
Hoping to have all the decisions from colleges by the end of the week so we can move on to the next phase!

Mixed results for S24. He was rejected at Northwestern, waitlisted at Vandy and Emory college, accepted at Oxford campus of Emory.

Not sure if he is interested in Oxford campus over his other options. Since Vandy takes about 160 kids off the waitlist last 5 years, things might dragged into the summer depending on tomorrow’s results.

How I wish I had discovered this thread awhile back when I really could have used some honest adult discussion of kid’s choices. It’s been a little lonely out here!

Today my DS24 received his final admission decision and I am so relieved it is over. Although to be honest, he is having a little Ivy Day FOMO. He originally didn’t want to apply to any Ivy because of feeling unconfident or not wanting to be in NE or lack of fit or difficulty of transportation home (Cornell, talking about you here). His results, however, have given him a little confidence and suggest he should have thrown an app or two out there.

He has been accepted to Carnegie Mellon, Harvey Mudd, Notre Dame, Northwestern, LMU, CU Boulder, CO School of Mines plus five more safeties. He also has a full ride + at University of Tulsa as a NMF. We are trying to get to a few admitted student programs but the only campus we haven’t seen in person is CMU. Financial aid will be important too.

Denied at Pomona and USC. Both of which made sense to me for various reasons.

Not a single WL which seems kind of unusual this cycle.

Anyway, congrats to all - your kids are amazing. Good luck in these final release days and as you make decisions.

He had amazing results and should have no regrets! Looking forward to hearing what he chooses.

Wow - that’s way better than any Ivy (well if you’re full pay and you’re me :)!!

Congrats - that’s incredible -I’m assuming a lot of enrichment too!!

“annually awards full-tuition scholarships and fully-funded, GPSP-sponsored summer programs to 18 incoming freshman students.”

Congrats to @threejs too - fantastic results - and if Ivy wasn’t right, then no problem not applying.

These are all GREAT problems to have!!!

Congrats!!! OMG. No one gets into Harvey Mudd. That is the creme de la creme in the tech STEM world. Congrats. And CMU is amazing from a tech standpoint. It’s so well-funded by Google
