SATs always vary a little from test to test, but they have a pulse on the difficulty of the questions and adjust the numbers accordingly. Thats why its good to plan one taking in twice no matter how prepared you are. My kids always did worse when they thought the test had been easy.
Yes, I just wondered if there was a change between the paper and digital tests.
Yes, same! We got the Harvard look book with a separate flyer included that clearly targeted families who could demonstrate financial need. Friend in another town received same lookbook but no accompanying flyer.
We’ve gotten several questBridge emails and usps postcards. I don’t remember this with my oldest. I think schools are stepping up their SES diversity hunt in light of the scotus ruling.
While this has been an accurate statement in recent years, I’m not yet convinced CB got it right this time. I’m seeing A LOT of parents saying their kid’s score dropped significantly on the March test. Purely anecdotal, but the jury is still out in my mind.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe those percentages are limited to the cumulative scores from solely that one test date.
Looks like you’re right, it’s over the last 3 years. Too bad, it will be interesting to see if the digital test shifts things at all.
For that reason we really focused of testing in the fall. Better the devil you know IMO. Glad D25 was able to wrap it up in December.
Same here! My kid plans to use their December SAT score. I’m extremely thankful they were of the same mindset and wanted to test on paper.
The math was significantly different than all of the Blue Book practice tests and the PSAT. D25 also took the August paper test and her math score decreased from the paper test to the digital. I was surprised because we thought the digital would have been easier since she got all of them correct on the PSAT and practice tests.
She felt the writing section was easier than the paper test though for sure.
Was her digital English score higher than her August paper one?
My kid also thought English was easier than paper, but math was way harder. They didn’t do any BlueBook practice tests so can’t compare to those.
I’ll report back how my kid’s digital score compared to their paper. Since they took it on a school day, we’ll have to wait a bit longer for results.
Simply on the fact that they got rid of full passages and “old text” English is going to be easier for most kids.
My son did worse on English and Math, his friend got in the low 1300’s in the fall on paper and 1100 on this digital one. My son’s scores were both in the mid 90th percentile range on paper and I think his math dropped to the 75th. Really hoping his ACT is decent.
Thank goodness we have options, and the ACT remains unchanged for now. The switch to digital SAT sounds like it was a bloodbath!
My kid took the paper SAT 3 times (June for a baseline so knew how to prep over the summer—-which NEVER happened—then the last two paper tests because kid was cynical about the switch to digital and wanted to take advantage of tried & true version. They scored exactly the same on all 3 math SAT so I’m Uber curious what their digital math score was.
In the end they’ll just use their December score sand I’m incredibly thankful they wanted to get their SAT tidied away before the switch to digital.
DS was very happy with his 1420. 760 English, 660 Math. Math was for sure a bloodbath!! He will take again in June to try and increase his math score. He did not take a paper SAT, and is not interested in the ACT, and so is fully invested in the DSAT experiment!
Her digital English was better than the paper. She got a 780 on the digital test and 650 on the paper . Math was 740 on paper, 760 on the digital PSAT and 690 on the digital SAT. So math was significantly lower.
I think I’m glad D25 had a track meet and couldn’t take the March SAT! She’s signed up for June.
On another note, say a prayer….we’re Prom dress shopping today!
Holy English increase!
May the prices be low & the excitement high!
We have few places to shop in person and our only outing was a bust. It was helpful in eliminating certain styles of dress, though. And we then ordered three dresses online, a try before you buy thing, with shockingly great success. So easy, dresses were half the price and twice the quality compared to the local department store.
