Parents of the HS Class of 2025 (Part 1)

And as a Rose parent and I can tell you that he will get a TON of free t-shirts if he goes there. LOL. Have you joined the parents page on FB? You can join as a prospective parent and it is a very welcoming group. It will make you want your son to go there even more! :elephant:

I joined the parents FB group earlier this year, and it is the nicest, most helpful group! It’s amazing how supportive the parents are of the school.

I am sitting on my hands and will not place an order!

I wish D25 would have been interested. Her older brother had a great experience, but she’s not sure of her major so a STEM school isn’t the right place for her.

Same here. Best of luck!

Swag update: I caved. I was holding strong, but just to test the waters, I put his size shirt in the cart, and it said there were only 5 left. We’ll know soon enough if I tempted fate just a smidge too much.

For S23, we bought a hoodie for his ED school and just didn’t tell him. When he got in, we were able to give him the hoodie for him to wear to school the next day.

Haven’t done anything for S25 - he doesn’t have a strong first choice right now.

I have put two hoodies in my cart about 10 times now. And then I take them out. And it’s almost like I bought them so my itch feels scratched for now.

We just had our Thanksgiving celebration at work. I’m at a brand new osteopathic medical school, and it was so nice seeing our normally stressed out students looking somewhat carefree in their festive Thanksgiving headbands and plates piled high before they head out for the break. Always amazed at how hard they work to get here and then to stay here.

I got into a school ED way back when. I still remember my parents managed to get me some gear by Christmas and I was thrilled! I am not sure if they pre-ordered or just called and had it rushed, but it was a lovely thing!

We have been talking about doing Thanksgiving early for weeks now. Reminded D25 this weekend that it will be on Wednesday and who was all coming. Tonight at 830pm she tells me she is working tomorrow and its my fault as we didn’t tell her. Yet she doesnt share her work schedule with us. She said “I always work Mondays and Wednesdays and some Fridays” yet routinely swaps hours with people. She works almost every weekend but then has random weekends off. Around the holidays her hours vary as well. Her job wants her to come in from 3pm-5pm. People are arriving at our house at 3pm and dinner at 4pm.

Just venting and annoyed. I get that she has a strong work ethic but really sucks when she doesn’t share her schedule with us and then gets mad when we make plans that conflict.

Just wanted to pop on to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you are all able to enjoy spending time with family, friends, or loved ones today. Thank you for creating a supportive space to share this crazy journey!

Same here- he won’t even buy anything from the college he has been accepted/is going to! I think he will do it once he moves in :woman_shrugging:t2:

I caved too. Two hoodies for 25% off. Oh well.

Hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving!

On this weekend of sales, I’m trying to come up with gift ideas for my D25 for things she’ll want/need for college. So far, I’m thinking hair tools, pajama sets, and slippers. I’m reluctant to buy any room decor this far in advance and not knowing where she’s going. Anyone else doing this? Any good sales out there?

this is a good idea, I am at a loss for gifts, especially smaller, things. Slippers, more PJs etc is a good idea.

I have shirts or hoodies in carts for their top choices, too, hoping acceptances come early enough:) I think there could be as many 7 schools they hear back from before Xmas (applied to 11)!

I want to get a sweatshirt if she gets into her ED school, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get it by Christmas. Maybe I’ll get her some games like cards against humanity and deck of playing cards to have in her dorm. I don’t know if she’ll really want them, but her friend group is always playing games like that.

ETA: I hope you all get good news from the 11!

I got a bunch of random things - towels, a laundry bag, a shower caddy, a door stop, a can opener, a couple different kinds of power strips and a desk lamp. Most of those things weren’t particularly on sale, but I internet shop with Rakuten, and sometimes the stores had higher than usual cash back.

Highly recommend a mini projector (I recommend the Nebula, but there are others that are more affordable). My college kids use theirs regularly for movie nights with friends.

Best wishes to your family too!

I too am holding off as she says she wants to wait to see what her roommate wants to do for decorating. The only thing I would potentially buy early is a twin xl mattress topper but I haven’t seen really any huge sales on those (and I don’t want to store it for that long). If she goes to her top choice at this time college, she would have a bathroom in her dorm room that only roommates share so I’m not going to buy a shower caddy or shower shoes either right now.
