Parents of the HS Class of 2025 (Part 1)

I totally read that phrase wrong the first time.

My D25’s good friend gets their Cornell decision today. I’m crossing my fingers from them because I know some people who attended the college they applied to and think they would really love it there.

My D should be getting decisions this weekend and I’m hoping they might happen tomorrow. It sounds like a lot of schools make their decisions visible at 7:00 PM on decision dates. I can totally see her making plans with friends tomorrow night and not even checking her email.

I did too! LOL

Ugh!!! My S25 got it in middle school. He went away to Scout camp and came home with pertussis despite being up to date on his boosters. We went to three different urgent care MD’s before one decided to swab him. It’s known as the 100 day cough and for certain it was!

Applauding your PSA - get those titers and boosters peeps!!

Best of luck for tomorrow! I think our son’s sound very similar based on your posts (mine did not ED anywhere). They might have a few of the same schools on their list. I’ll be rooting for him.

It started going around campus this year, so I got a booster in October. I had no idea it lost its effectiveness so quickly though. That’s probably how so many students are getting it, even if they got a booster before going to college.

I’m a pharmacist and the tDap vaccine we give has tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis(whooping cough). It’s recommended every 10 years, but could be repeated early if needed. So at least in NY, you should be able to easily get it at your pharmacy anytime! (We can only do 18+)

D25 just texted me that her ED1 school confirmed that they’re releasing decisions Friday at 7:00pm. I’m so nervous. We’re planning to be together when she looks at the portal, but she said she has plans right after in case she needs a distraction. I’m so much more nervous than I ever was for my own college stuff. I think it was better not knowing when and just receiving a surprise fat envelope in the mail.

Totally agree, getting the decision in the mail was the best!

I am about to leave for the airport and won’t be around for any decisions this weekend. What was I thinking!!!

Solid advice either way.

Hiya, just in case you needed it, here’s another little tidbit for Richmond. When my S24 spider applied ED1 and got deferred, there was no portal astrology of any kind. On the other hand for RD, when the portal changed on the early morning of the day of results, he could sign up for the accepted students day (which of course we didn’t!) while most on the CC chat could not. Funnily enough, on his UR student profile he now shows up as an ED1 acceptance (though ofc we have to consider the issue that fin aid for internationals is limited, not need blind, so it might have been that causing the deferral). Go figure, and good luck!

Son is also getting his ED decision tomorrow at 7pm and we have 8pm tickets to see They Might be Giants!

Maybe our kids are applying to the same places. I hope your son gets good news tomorrow and enjoys the concert. It sounds like the perfect way to spend the evening regardless of how the decision goes.

Joining in the ED chorus…we had S25 receive an acceptance for his ED school last week and now we anxiously await D25 ED school tomorrow at 3pm :crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers::crossed_fingers: :bear:

This means they could both end up in the same city for college :shaking_face: manifesting but also keeping chill, it all works out in the end and she will end up someplace great regardless.

My kid received a large fedex bubble envelope from Hofstra today, it feels like something bulky (not paper) is in there. Their portal still says “under review”. Anxiously awaiting their return from school!
