Oh, I forgot PE, orchestra, etc. But there is no test on these. lol

My D26 graduates first week of June. This week, they are finishing up on the material for the AP exams; then they will start review. Some teachers hold structured review sessions; others just provide time during class. After AP exams, seniors complete their senior projects and presentations. There are also a ton of senior traditions, some of which take place during the school day. They are kept pretty busy up to the end!

Just booked D19’s ticket to come to C26’s graduation. Somehow that makes it seem more real.

In an update to the prom drama, my D26 and her three (guy) friends who thought they were joining the larger (somewhat exclusive) group at a particular restaurant are NOT actually joining their reservation – one of the guys made a separate reservation for just the four of them. I cautioned that they shouldn’t force their way into joining the larger group, because that could go south quickly.
Also, because my kid broached this topic with her friend in a “hey do you have any prom plans” kind of way – he thought maybe she was inviting him as her date, and his mom texted me to ask what color flowers he should get her.
She didn’t actually ask him – and there is nothing romantic between them at all – but whatever, both are chill, and it’s a little funny, so I guess she has a date now. Sorta.
She’s also a foot taller than him. I mean, it works for Zendaya, so…

In California for the Occidental admitted student day! Burbank airport was great - we could walk to the rental car location. It’s very very pretty here and we are definitely not in Kansas anymore! Haha!
We drove around the campus and the campus area. I was very happy to have a chance to do that before tomorrow.

D26 would be very jealous of all your kids that graduate in May! They actually moved her graduation a day later because of snow days. 
But I like that it’s on a Thursday and not Wednesday at least. They do finals the week before graduation and then graduation practice the last three days. There aren’t that many events for the seniors: rec day, senior luncheon, senior prank- that’s about it.
Senior Assassin is in full swing. D26 is really just trying to avoid being taken out- she’s taking the Haymitch Abernathy route

Going to admitted students day tomorrow. Staying near campus in a very quaint part of Providence about half a mile from Brown.
Enjoy identifying the other admitted students families based on them looking at their phones, pointing and trying to figure out where everything is.

Ventured out to Michael’s this evening for supplies for D26’s presentation that she’ll make in 2 wk for her senior project.
Learned today that the city of Tucson has a ton of Lime scooters all around campus…well, the periphery of U of A’s campus. You can’t actually use them ON campus. And U of A doesn’t allow you to have an electric scooter in your dorm room. Nor can you secure your own e-scooter to a bike rack (it’ll be impounded by campus police). BUT you can rent a Lime scooter to get somewhere off campus. And you have to park them in a designated scooter parking location just outside of campus. Or else Lime will extend your rental time by 15 min and charge you more.
D26 has never in her life used a scooter, so I have no idea if she’d ever rent one. But it’s nice to know that at least it’s an option.
She’s not going to bring a bike with her. She’s just planning on walking everywhere. It’ll be fine.
We learned that her likely dorm has 2 water fountains & ice machines. So we’re definitely going to buy one of those small countertop ice makers. D24 uses one in her dorm room and loves it.
I think that the cooktop in the dorm’s community kitchen requires induction cookware. Might buy her a pot so she could make her own spaghetti or pasta salad in the dorm (2 of her staples 
).

That brings back memories of my twin S24’s and prom. One was entirely on top of everything…flowers, suit, car and the other…you would have thought he’d never heard of the concept of prom before. Thank goodness I knew the mom of the sweet (shy!) girl who asked him and knew she’d had a crush on him since kindergarten. I promised the mom he’d look good, have safe transportation, and would bring the prettiest wrist corsage the town had ever seen. But lemme tell you…that was like getting our cat ready for a big vet visit. But it happened! And to his surprise he had a magical time. Now he really likes formals at college. I hope your daughter’s night turns out similarly well.

D26 is bringing a rice cooker. There are a lot of recipes on Youtube that make actual for other than rice in standard rice cookers, including pasta. She is GF so wants to be able to make rice, GF pasta, steamed veggies (it comes with a steamer basket too).

Same! Our graduation is June 23. NYC school calendar is ridiculous! My husband is a teacher and his last day teaching is June 26!

June 26 is crazy late!
NYS has Regents exams through June 25 so it is state-wide. School opens in Sept. which I think is later than many other parts of the country – they pretty much stick to the mandated number of school days.
Our HS starts “senior projects” soon after AP exams so there is no “traditional school” for seniors during the end of the school year.
