From the apparel of the people in your photos, I’d say it’s been more than a few decades…

The first photo was taken exactly 24 hours before totality. The second was during totality. I think I’ll get a better one from my daughter but this gives you an idea.

It felt like the cabin was designed and located specifically to view this eclipse. We were sitting on the front porch when I took the photos. Really surreal how perfect everything, including the weather, was. I can’t recall conditions that clear all day ever happening before. There’s always a cloud somewhere in the sky, but this day was 100% clear.

Two photos that my daughter grabbed at random. She has many, many to sort through.

Honestly, I was totally unaware of the eclipse. I’m pretty sure it never got dark here. I would have noticed that. Did it actually become “night” in places?

Depending on where you were, yes. We had a few minutes of total darkness - trippy.

Yes it really did get dark. We could see the stars. When you are at 99% it’s just a tiny bit darker - like a cloudy day except the light still seems slightly off in hue. Then kaboom! There was some light on the horizon like a sunset.

The photo above was taken at 3:30 pm when there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Totality lasted 2 minutes 47 seconds where we were.

Wasn’t that wild? I expected it to be pretty dark at 99% coverage, but it wasn’t! The sun is so strong!
