It’s been a while since I’ve sat and just painted “for me” - today was the day. I just went into a meditative state and these! They’re postcard sized -
I hope those were zoomed photos - not in their faces! That’s a great place to safely observe wildlife but too many tourists disturb the sea life.
They are beautiful!
@TiggerDad - glad you are enjoying your time here in SD. Our weather in La Jolla has been a bit cloudy over the holidays. Did you get to see the big waves last week? The Shack is at Windansea which is south of where you were at the cove.
D2 drove my Dad’s 1955 Chevy truck yesterday. My Dad bought the truck in 1976 and fixed it up over the years. My brother will keep the truck now and will keep it running (he is great with cars). This is something we have all decided needs to stay in the family as my Dad loved it.
Yes, the weather’s been consistently cloudy, which I don’t really mind (better for photography). I didn’t get to go farther down to the shack location. If I had more time at my disposal, I’d have walked over to the pier area where the proper “beach” seems to be.
I used to deliver Miller Lite cases to Larry Bird’s house. The night of Larry’s retirement celebration at The Garden I drank with him until 3 a.m. at The Dockside in Boston. He may have been from Indiana, but he’s the athlete that defined the Boston working class ethos(sorry Tom Brady).
Amen @GKUnion, as a life-long New Englander, I can attest to that—Tom Brady was the aw-shucks gee-whiz kid, until Giselle, then he became one of the ‘beautiful people’ and ran with that crowd.
The best example of that is Tom and Giselle attending the Met Gala—I could not imagine in a million years Larry Bird doing that!!! He’d rather go through a case of beer with McHale and his buddy Greg Kite!!!
Anyone who shows up at the Met Gala is not a “man of the people”.
New Year’s Eve day hike in the White Mountains. View from our hike up Mt Willard and a view of Mt Washington
I heard on the weather this morning that Mt. Washington currently has sustained wind speeds of 104mph, with gusts to 140. The wind chill is -40.
I know it’s snowing where many of you live. Please share some pics with those of us who miss it.
Mine is from yesterday. It’s not much, but it’s the first we’ve seen in a couple of years. Today has been our usual icy rain. Blech.
The ground is bare in southern Maine and there’s no snow in the forecast. Snowmobiling is a bust at this point, even in the mountains near our cabin. A local farm had cross country ski trails open to the public for 25 years, but they’ve decided to close them permanently due to lack of snow the past seven years.
