Made me cry
I wish we didn’t have to wait so long to pick this up again. I guess I could read the books, but I’d rather just know how things are going to turn out. So much sadness tonight.
Well, the series covers through Waterloo, so about 30 years, which suggests that Ross isn’t executed for the faked crimes. Note that the crime of wrecking actually existed but was for luring a ship on to rocks with a light at night or things like breaking holes in a boat so it couldn’t escape. Taking stuff was plundering and it was also a crime, though apparently rarely enforced.
We missed today 6:00 Pm episode. We are one episode behind,
Smuggling and Cornwall go hand in hand. So does keeping whatever you find on the beach. In the old season, I remember a run in with the law over smuggling and it involved just about everyone!
So incredibly sad! RIP, Baby Julia.
And I felt tremendous sadness for Elizabeth as well. She’s portrayed as a very good and honorable woman. To know that Demelza had displaced her in Ross’s heart was a real kick in the gut on top of everything else.
One of the nice things about getting old is that time goes so quickly. I will console myself with that knowledge to decrease my frustration at having to wait a FULL YEAR to see what happens next.
P.S. If you’re hankering for more Cornwall, I highly recommend Rosamunde Pilcher’s “The Shell Seekers.” I fell in love with Cornwall when I read the book when it came out in the mid-eighties.
And we’ll have Downton Abbey in the meantime.
I loved The Shell Seekers, but Coming Home is my favorite Pilcher book. In fact, I love everything she has written and wish there had been more.
I’ve started reading the first Poldark book. It’s very good!
Just loved this series. Even the sad parts. What a find!
Too much drama for me. Watching last week episode. I must go do so,etching boring like working on the submit yak of my sister’s landscaping plan.
Facebook teased me today with a post that Poldark Season 2 will be back in the fall. I wish I could have it this summer and also have Last Tango in Halifax, another PBS summer favorite.
Bumping this thread because Poldark Season 2 starts tonight on PBS at 8pm - 2 hour episode!
Who’s watching with me? :>
I’ll probably watch, but I’ve been cheating and have already watched the first few episodes of the new season via a website I learned about on CC. Actor John Nettles (Midsomer Murders) plays a new character this season.
My DVR is set, but it may take me a few days to get to it. Sunday night television is an effort to manage in the fall since some of the best from CBS (60 Minutes, Madam Secretary, & Elementary) have to be monitored in case the football game runs over. It’s either feast or famine and Sunday nights are the tv feast for me!
Thx for the heads up! DVR set to record series.
This news just made my day!

I’m watching on, er, alternate sites too. I don’t like how PBS cuts 10 minutes or so off each episode. So far I’ve seen the first too and they’re good but they diverge from the books in some gratuitous and unfortunate ways.
