Wow. I have a LOT of thoughts after watching Inception (many of which are random). First of all - Can one be stuck in a seemingly infinite paradigm of dreams and not realize it until it’s too late, kind of like those stairs? Or maybe we’re all Ellen Page inside because bombs bombs bombs bombs bombs 528491.

I’m seeing that tomorrow, everyone is saying it is great.

^ It really is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. Be sure though that you engage yourself with the movie and that you’re actively thinking and working things through, because otherwise you might look like one of those nincompoop critics that didn’t like the film. Seriously.

We were debating Inception or Predator for tonight (last night, I guess, technically), since Predator has Adrien Brody and Inception has JGL, but, since he’s not a main character; since Ellen Page, while being a great actresses, has slightly irked us since way back in Hard Candy; and since the Inception commercials got really frigging annoying on FX when the Depahted was showing, we went with Predator. And, a little bit because we (or at least I, I don’t know about them) prefer good art house to good, even cerebral, B(ig)F(expletive)M(ovie)s, since BFMs just always seems like, well, movies rather than like life. At least with a silly BFM one isn’t supposed to take it seriously.

Also, Adrien Brody’s a beast and we’re very committed to seeing all of his releases, though some of us found Splice ridiculous. Additionally, Alice Braga was also in City of God, making her a beast.

“because otherwise you might look like one of those nincompoop critics that didn’t like the film”
I haven’t seen it yet, but not liking a movie does not make someone a nincompoop.

^The first paragraph made no sense the first three times I read it. Well done.

i just realized that i dont have any white or hispanic/latino friends (outside of school that is). :(

^^Yay! I was trying to make it that way.

^It was beautifully done.

Writer’s block will be the death of me.

^ What are you trying to write? College essays?

^ Yeah, finished a common app essay yesterday and decided to scrap it today. Now I’m stuck.

Um, Jersey?

:D

I still don’t even have any ideas for what to write about. Nothing. Everything either seems boring, cliched, contrived, or treacly.

I’m dreading that too. I have had no interesting hardship in my life :/

Last week I wrote a pretty awesome first paragraph with a nice touch of humor. Unfortunately, it lead to nowhere. My Chicago supplement draft is coming along okay and I have an awesome idea for the Stanford “what should your roommate know about you” question (although that might not even be a supplement essay this year).

Oh come on be fair. I typed that in a movie-induced delirium at 4:30 AM. No, disliking a movie doesn’t make you a nincompoop but you can tell which critics thought as they watched the movie and which simply went with their predisposed opinions in spite of what the film had to offer.
Understood, but this was the BFM exception. Think Matrix-level, but better.

Sorry, I haven’t been following the conversation, but are you talking about Inception? Have you seen it?

^lol @ the personal statement on the previous page

I’m not following…

That was to Warts. I posted a link to an awesome essay yesterday, if you go back a couple of pages or so :p
