Princeton Class of 2028 Official Thread

I am choosing to be a Emory Woodruff Scholar (full ride) over Princeton and other Ivies/T10s because of family finances, as well as the incredible Scholar community/networking and campus vibes. Hopes this opens one more spot for a WL person

Not for me :frowning: and I knew that the FAFSA would not change it much in my personal situation, but i’m grateful nonetheless for my other choice

This is the only official page. Princeton Parents | Facebook
It’s an incredibly helpful community and great resource. I remember having to wait until receiving a NetID or something of the sort before joining (for verification) but @Parent-in-Georgia did it more recently and said they were able to do it right away. Though now that I think about it, they came of the waitlist, so maybe it was a different timing.

That other one is a scam - they pose as a university group and try to sell Princeton theme items through it. I recommend always check to see who owns the page before joining.

Good luck to you! Emory is a fantastic school and it can’t get any better than being a Woodruff scholar.

Where do you see 0? My D23 got off the waitlist in early June. She knows a few others that got off the WL as well.

Hi. I think I saw somewhere it was 0, but I think it was actually like so small (.5%) that ppl say it was 0. I’m on the waitlist myself lol

The Princeton internal system can be glitchy, it’s well known. You may have to log out and log back in, clear cache. It will work but it might take a log out, log in type of solution. I just logged into my first years fin aid portal and it said the same, but logged in from another link and it was fine.

Did your D23 send a LOCI after being WL?

There were 0 waitlist admittees for the Class of 2026 (IIRC, the percentage of admitted students who matriculated was unusually high that year) but I don’t think the university has released waitlist statistics for the Class of 2027 (they will be in the next Common Data Set).

Yes, LOCI with meaningful updates.

@TigerInWinter, true. For Fall 2022, the number admitted from WL is 0. They haven’t released the CDS for Fall 2023 yet. Here’s what I found in Fall 2022 CDS. Good luck to everyone on WL this year. For Fall 2023, there was more than 1 as my D23 said she knew someone else who got off the WL as well.

Fall 2022 admissions:

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list: 1710
Number accepting a place on the waiting list: 1348
Number of wait-listed students admitted: 0

Class of '26 is very large as they ended up quite over enrolled. I believe they were a bit more conservative with 2027 as to not overshoot their goal. This, in of itself, was smaller, to average out 2026.

With the SCOTUS change throwing yet another curveball at the yield algorithms, it wouldn’t surprise me if they took a conservative approach and planned on dipping into the WL to stay as close as possible to the target class size of 1425.

Anyone got financial aid decision yet? My son’s FAFSA is still broken and the financial office said they need FAFSA.

Was it along the same lines as your daughters one for Yale? I was deferred at Yale as well.

I think FA office provided the financial package based mainly on the CSS profile and it should be on the admission portal already.

Hi!

The waitlist is not ranked. It rarely moves but when it does it is more aligned to class composition. For example a female math major. Everything the admissions office needs is already in the application

The Princeton LOCI probably had more updates as that was sent in April. Yale LOCI was sent in early Jan as she was deferred SCEA. But, yes, along the same lines. Don’t stress too much over this. LOCI is not going to make or break anything. It just lets them know that you’re still interested if they’re considering you. Good luck with the process.

I think Princeton does not use the CSS Profile for financial aid - they have their own Princeton Financial Aid Application. Apply for Financial Aid | Princeton Admission. But the aid offer should be in the admissions portal.

Thanks so much - was this sent directly to the AO/admissions office or uploaded to the portal update tool?
