That is such great news as I was worrying I may have missed it or felt badly I didn’t receive one to my personal email address
Neither. After reading on their website that they appreciate receiving any senior grades, I asked my counselor to upload them.
TAMU is a great school! Congrats!
Don’t you think that some portion of those 55% didn’t apply anywhere else - i.e., were SCEA or recruited athletes?
But you are right that these schools really do have different institutional priorities and few students will be equally attractive across the board.
I feel most of the 55% unadmitted applicants are those in RD round whose profile are not very competitive and just apply a bunch of reach/match/safe schools incl. Princeton. Just my guess.
Just received a request for MP1 grades. Counselor emailed me to notify.
Just recieved as in like, JUST? like Princeton sent them a couple of hours ago?
or did your counselor JUST notify you but they got them earlier
also are you domestic? if intl what region
sorry for the q&a lmaoo im just tryna stay in the loop
50 minutes ago, domestic. However, I know some people received them last week.
Where, then, are all the SCEA applicants who didn’t apply elsewhere and all the recruited athletes? 18% of the class is recruited athletes. 743 people were admitted in the SCEA round (including many of those athletes.) Many students who get in to their top choice, in this case Princeton, rejoice that they’ve done with the process. But no matter how. But that is just over half the class – tying nicely to the 55%.
And then there are students who only have one real reach – because these schools ARE quite different from each other.
I think you’re fooling yourself if you believe that over half the class submitted applications to those other schools but only got into Princeton. I still agree with your point – that not getting accepted to Princeton in the early round does not need to signal rejection at every selective school – but this isn’t really the data that proves ir.
Usually how many apply?
For that year, 7335. The tricky part, though, is that most of the recruited athletes are in that round and have passed the pre-read, so they are effectively already admitted. Or put another way, if they aren’t going to be admitted, there will not be offered a commitment from the coach.
It also includes Questbridge scholars and the like, who have their own process which isn’t like “regular” applicants’.
All of these statistics have nuances and caveats to them which can’t be teased out by anyone outside the admissions office.
That’s the percentage of students participating in a varsity sport, including walk-ons. 18% equates to ~250, which exceeds the Ivies per school recruiting cap. They can recruit less than the max, and most do, but can’t exceed it.
The survey posted by fkeunhae in post #94 is NOT an official survey conducted by the university, it was a survey conducted by the ‘Princetonion’, a (the) campus student-run newspaper (sanctioned by the university). In the lower left -hand corner of the page posted by the Princetonian is ‘n=567’, presumably and by convention, the number of respondents to that particular query. The freshman class size is about 1400, so around 40% of the freshmen responded to that question.
One could navigate to the ‘Frosh Survey 2028’ link (top bar of the above Princetonian page) for a brief description of how the survey was conducted. A brief excerpt is here:
"Our survey was conducted over a period of 22 days, from July 1 to July 22, 2024. On six occasions, the ‘Prince’ sent emails containing a link to the survey to members of the Class of 2028 included in the Residential College Student Facebook as of July 1 — a total of 1,438 people. We received 732 responses, comprising just over 50 percent of the class. "
ETA: The statement of “55% of Princeton admits did not get admitted to any of the T10.” in post #94 is incomplete, to say the least.
Apologies for not including the context behind the survey. Although I agree with the above replies that this statistic may not be wholly accurate or representative, I believe it is sufficient to convey my point.
When do I lose hope of receiving an email regarding the grade check? I’d assume this Friday is the last day they’d send them out, no?
I saw in my Common apps portal that Princeton downloaded my “school report” again on December 3rd. Before the update, they already downloaded it once in November 2nd. Is this a good signal? (My counselor haven’t received any mid year grade upload request, I guess maybe it’s because I have a 45 perfect IB predicted grade?)
I don’t know if Pton has a preference for IB or AP, but I will reiterate that they seem to appreciate students who challenge themselves academically. My daughter is currently a freshman and graduated high school with a full IB diploma. Every class that she took that wasn’t IB, she took the AP version, if possible. Weighted GPA of 4.7, valedictorian. Her high school was public and pretty mid. I think they liked that she went out of her way to take the most difficult classes that she could.
how do you see if they’ve downloaded it multiple times? can you send an SS?
On December 1st when I checked my common apps, it says “downloaded on november 2nd”, when I checked it again yester, it says “downloaded on December 4th”, common apps always shows the newest dates when there is a new action done
what region r u applying out of?
