@doschicos , I agree with every single word you typed, with the exception of the cattle reference!
i dont know; normally I like some of the strange/interesting/creative outfits the designers dream up.
But this week, i wasnt interested at all. I liked the look of “brantaro’s” outfits; but also thought the shorts over the leggings was very similar to last week’s win. The shirt dress didnt seem flattering in the chest area, and I don’t think I’d give it a second look. I liked the red dress better. I guess I’m hoping for some great pieces next week!
I watched On-Demand on my laptop and there was an ad for JCP’s “Project Runway Line” of clothing, which looked just awful and cheap.
Those fabrics were awful. It’s no wonder the contestants had trouble with them, particularly for “menswear influenced” where you (or at least I) think of more structured garments. I would have liked the winning garment in a nice cotton shirting, but that polyester looked so sleazy.
Well, it is JCP after all, not Neiman Marcus. ![]()
Really liked “Brantero” look. Maybe too many pieces for JCPenney to reproduce for an “outfit” to sell. It was a whole collection of separates. They are a great team.
Dress was pretty nice… JCP only needed one look and it looked marketable. Polyester keeps it more wrinkle free. Hope it’s snaps or something vs a million buttons though! Some color would be nice…but it was different at least.
Looking forward to one hour twin challenge just to see what it will be. I’d say “big sis” Claire will survive because she has more sewing skills. But who knows? One hour will tend to test the design aesthetic more than sewing skills.
A few seasons back the winner couldn’t sew at all (can’t remember her name).
The winner who couldn’t sew was Anya–lots of long maxi dresses.
I’d take the contestant who has ideas and originality over sewing skills every time, and I think the judges often do. It’s a contest for the best designer not the best seamstress. Hopefully, the winner will be good at both.
As far as the twins go, I think Shawn has exhibited better style even though her sewing skills may be lacking relative to Claire’s.
@doschicos I think Claire’s looks all seem to be geared towards a night at the club. Everything is short, tight, or sparkles. However, I look at Shawn and though her looks lack ingenuity, they are much more functional and wearable, if only she could do it on her own.
I think whoever stays this week will probably make it far in the competition because she will be forced to grow.
@katliamom I agree! At frist, Brandon’s looks were fresh and innovative. Now, I wanna see more than just loose fitting cropped, layered, asymmetrical looks. Nina called him out on it two weeks ago I think and yet we have seen more of the same. I am much more impressed by Kentaro who has taken criticism constructively and has pushed to be better.
My top three: Kentaro, Kenya, Michael
I for one hated the pink and grey fabric (probably bc it gives me bad 1980’s flashbacks). Liked the winning dress.
I LOVE the ending with the competition between the losers. Cannot wait. Am also perplexed re the cheating, however. CLEARLY, Tim did not save the loser.
I like Michael too.
The twins!!! I will say no more
Oh, the drama…
Please. I need feedback
Next week’s gonna be good >:)
I loved Kentaro’s dress. Margarita actually made me feel sorry for Claire.
I loved Kentaro’s best. I don’t think Claire’s blouse looked that much like Margarita’s dress from last week. I’m curious what will come out of all this.
The first version of the blouse did, but not the final one. Michael said something about the pants being the same as pair she owned (or something like that?)
I think, since Claire’s top changed significantly from her initial draping, that it has more to do with what she has back in her room–Michael mentioned earlier in the episode that Claire had “very similar” pants in her closet—but it may even go further than that. After all, how many ways are there to make pants? (Unless the print is also a copy?)
I’m starting to think that when Tim says “it” is unseemly, atrocious, and unprofessional, he is talking more about the other designers accusing Claire than about any actual act of “cheating” that occurs.
These cliffhangers are killing me!!!
