Did anyone else notice how Michael Kors kept gushing over the dumb chain on Joshua’s orange sack dress? Oh well. Maybe we’ll see more of Bert later. His story was really touching and he has lovely taste.

We DVR’d and I was upset to realize there was a show afterwards interviewing the contestants - DVR didn’t get that!!! I would have loved to watch. Anyone know if they replay that show???

You can catch it on lifetime’s website

You know, one of the things I think that really and truly distinguishes Anya is her ability to calmy take and digest criticism. When Tim questions some aspect of her design she says thank you and steps back and considers it carefully without emotion or upset or fear or taking it personally. Josh on the other hand, takes criticism with emotion and anger and a “how dare you” attitude. And he did it to Laura on that After the Runway show. She was asking about a dynamic between him and the others and instead of carefully considering it and thinking about how he acted with gratitude for the learning/teaching, he instead flared in anger and told her he hoped they never meet on the streets of NYC because it would not be a happy meeting. And called her something like an internet assassin. He has alot to learn about taking criticism. Anya is just remarkable and shines, IMO, when she is criticized and takes it so very very very well.

At this point, I kind of feel like if they would choose Anya over someone like Viktor, it will be because they they feel they can profit from her designs and ideas and personality and popularity as opposed to the total package - someone like Viktor who can design AND sew flawlessly - more of what I at least think the show to be asking the contestants for.

That’s kind of it - the show asks that they be not only great designer, but also great seamstresses. But, in the end, that’s not who they always pick IMO.

Oh my…What do the judges see in Josh that I am missing???

We did not care for Laura’s designs. I know the judges thought the long gown was great and the circles well placed, but I thought the circle in back was like a bull’s eye on her butt. Who would wear that? And the pink frock looked like a cheap nightgown that has been through the wash too many times. I hated to see her go because she wanted it so much though. She’s young with a great future ahead of her. I hope she does well.

Yea, that circle fabric seemed to do her in. I like her too, but not her designs last night. AND what is UP with Josh? He keeps flying under the radar and they keep saying he has so many ‘ideas’, but isn’t there such a thing as a BAD idea? I think he has many imo.

I think they’re just keeping Josh around for the drama to keep viewers tuning in. I’m convinced that the decision in that bird challenge to allow the designers to show only one look (after making them create two) was to save Josh from having to show that horrid green chiffon number.

I agree with patsmom - I think they are keeping Josh around for drama, because Lord knows, he’s FULL of drama.

And I know I’m still carrying a torch for Bert - but am I the only one who thought that Anya’s designs showed a strong Bert influence? Something about the black dress really screamed Bert to me.

^
Since Bert was the one who assisted Anya and sewed that dress, that doesn’t surprise me! When they all chose an eliminated designer to help them, I thought she made a good choice picking Bert, and I think the results bear that out.

Kimberly has really flown below the radar. After watching the ‘post show’, I realized because she’s soft-spoken and doesn’t ‘dish’ on anyone in the clips, so you really don’t get a sense of her personality. Early on she created some amazing tailored clothes, especially pants. I think she is completely worn out, so with some rest and time to think through a collection, it will look good. I’m happy they went with 4 designers, so there is more we get to see over the next 2 weeks.

Anya is wearing out her welcome IMO, I’m sick of her drapey dressy and baggy pants. Yes, they fit her models nicely, but they would make my size 10 body look like a large sack of potatoes, even though I’m 5’9".

Victor’s clothes are beautiful and I wanted the blouse that was part of the ‘secretary’ outfit.

So much to say about Josh! However his clothes are made well, but his sense of style is over the top and I’m not sure who his female target customer is.

I agree with Hugcheck about Anya. Her maturity and intelligence show through. I was struck with how articulate she was on this last episode when asked to explain her three looks and what inspired them. She referenced the scultor himself, the pieces and linked them to her garments in a really insightful way. She is just on a higher plane, imo, intellectually than the others and this helping her immensely.

I really admire Viktor’s work. The blouse this week was utterly lovely. It was time for Laura to go. I would have kept Bert last week and sent home Laura. I also think Kim has real talent and may surprise by winning. Josh? Oh my.

I agree that Anya is operating on a higher plane than everyone else. She has more of the artist’s view than the craftsman’s view. As for her designs not working for larger women, I would have to disagree. The fabric she tends to use are not bulky and so even though they drape, they cling where they should and hide the rest. Of course, past a certain point nothing can hide. I also agree about Bert v. Laura last week. He has so much more range than she does. I do think it was sad that Kimberly felt so out of it because the girls made a pact and then broke the pact behind her back. Not cool. She makes a great cocktail dress. Viktor is an excellent craftsman. Josh cannot sew exceptionally well, yet thinks he can, and his taste level is not there yet. He may be one of those designers whose esthetic just hasn’t arrived yet in our eyes.

Anya definitely had influence from Bert. It’s strange how the judges never mentioned that.

Part of Anya’s genius was selecting Bert right away.

Agree that Anya has the most artistic point of view. She is also the smartest in that she has the ability to take any challenge (or setback), and deliver excellent results. She doesn’t whine, fret, complain or make excuses…just cuts to the chase and gets the job done, beautifully and tastefully.

beautifully and tastefully/quote maybe that’s because she’s a beauty queen.

Did anyone think Laura’s third look was a copy of Mondo’s long dress from last season? Just a complete repeat look. Heidi looked so disappointed and I don’t blame her. Laura’s first two dresses were lovely, and I think she might have beaten Josh whose second look was awful and he even said fake it till you make it as it came down the runway. Viktor’s pieces were great - esp. that first outfit - wow - and Anya’s I thought were not her best but interesting in the way she used color blocking for the collection as opposed to a single look.

I would not have minded seeing Josh go instead of Laura. I think Laura is very earnest and might evolve over time. I think she over thinks her designs. I though Josh’s three looks were honestly just plain ugly.
