Project Runway - new season

I loved all the designs of Team Chaos, especially Anthony Ryan’s dress and Victor’s gown.
Hoping that Joshua will go home - he’s so obnoxious and full of himself.

I liked Team Chaos’s work, too, and I was really rooting for Oliver and that jacket - gorgeous! (And I can’t believe I’m actually agreeing with Michael Kors.) So tell me again why Anya won. Her dress was cute but meh. Why not give it to the guy who could really sew?

I guess I cna see why Becky went home - but why oh why coouldn’t it have been Josh?

That is exactly what I was thinking. Becky did deserve to go home - her outfit was very blah, and didn’t she have a pretty big hand in the clock concept? But Josh, ugh. He is so obnoxious. Michael Kors had it right (not something I often say), Josh is a bully. They always seem to like to keep the most unpleasant personality in it till the end.

As an aside - talking of Michael Kors. I was in a store called Ross the other day that sells clothes cheaply (I think it is kind of end of season, overstock type stuff an items are usually at 1/2 normal price or less). I pop in there occasionally to see if I can find the odd bargain - for instance I got some of those sketchers with the funny bottoms for $49. Anyway, saw the cutest purse and was excited till I saw the price. it was $175 - keep in mind that a normal purse here would be a $50-60 purse at half price. Turned out it was a Michael Kors at a little less than half price. Don’t care for the guy much, but really loved that purse. Not enough to pay $175 though.

The only reason I can see that Anya’s dress won is because at the judging, Heidi said that they didn’t have a favorite - they liked all of the outfits. So she asked each designer who they thought should win. Everyone voted for him/herself except Bryce, who voted for Anya. You’d think the judges could have agreed on a winner by themselves.

I really dislike the direction this show has taken over the past couple of seasons. The designers aren’t as talented as the ones in the earlier days, the judging has no rhyme nor reason to it, and the ugliest personalities are kept around because they’re controversial. Actually, I guess you could say that about most of the reality shows these days!

My sneaking suspicion is that Anya’s won because it used the HP-generated print for almost the entire garment, and this was an HP product placement show above all. I agree that since moving to Lifetime, the show has slid downhill–all product placement and manufactured drama.

Oliver’s jacket or the long gown should have won, not Anya. Still, I’d want her on my team, as she has good fashion sense. Becky was a victim of her lack of assertiveness. I didn’t like her jacket or any of her pieces; she never found her voice. I wonder how she would have developed if Josh wasn’t there.

i’ll ditto bookworm!!

For some reason, the show didn’t record. We found a replay at midnight to record, so I will spend an exciting Friday night catching up on that and What Not to Wear.

The Disney Channel show So Random had a sketch the other day called “Project Airport Runway” in which girls model the latest fashions while directing airplane traffic on a tarmac. Corny kid-show stuff, but I thought it was a pretty funny concept.

The judges are making me crazy! In the previous team challenge, when Josh went after Becky, the judges praised Josh for being a “leader.” And now he’s a bully? He was a bully then, too! He needs to get over himself.

Wow, what an episode!

But how can the judges tell Oliver that his jacket was the best tailored jacket they’ve seen in the history of the show, but then it doesn’t win?

I hate to say it, but Josh was right about Becky…she never found a real voice. However, Becky may also be right about Becky…someone has to design all the (gasp) ready to wear that we all buy at the (gasp) mall.

I think the judges are way “over sharing” their thoughts. Some of the critiques are downright nasty.

^^ I’ve noticed this season that the judges are mocking the contestants on camera (and behind their backs, at least until/if they see the show) more than before.

This is my favorite tv show. I think Anya won because of the print, not the dress design. I think Oliver didn’t win because his beautiful jacket didn’t include any of the print. Given all of that, I think the gown should have won. Also, did Anya help Oliver make the pants? I thought that’s what I heard. I got the feeling today that Anya, the new sewist, has won this season. What do you all think?

I think Anya will be in the finals. Also, I couldn’t believe it when Josh said he doesn’t believe the model needs to be going somewhere.

I think Anya won because Oliver already had a win. I thought the long gown should have won. I’d buy that dress.

Because I have Comcast, I could watch the longer version of judges’ table. I didn’t find them catty. On the abbreviated version, it seems they go for the lines with “punch”. Sometimes the lines feel scripted.

I haven’t seen the episode yet, but I’m not surprised that Anya’s look won. That outfit is on trend and styled well. Even though there isn’t that much design there, it’s still a pretty good look.

I’ll throw out there that Joshua M probably won’t be in the final three. He’s like Michael C. The judges love everything he does now, but they’ll abruptly dislike his aesthetic and auf him.

If you care to take a peek, the final collections from the 9 remaining designers showing at FW are up on Tom & Lorenzo. I spy a pair of sequined granny panties! As a collection, I liked Bert’s the best. Quiet and sophisticated. No doubt the judges will tear it apart.

I liked Bert’s collection a lot, too. Josh’s was hideous!
Victor had some really nice pieces but I didn’t care much for Olivier’s stuff.

Based on the styling, I think the final 3 might be Laura, Anthony Ryan & Anya. I also liked Bert’s and found it to be the collection that would be most salable to mid-range sportswear as is.
