Project Runway - new season

I like Laura’s collection the best and I was impressed by Bert. I kind of wish I had not looked at the final collections…

Couldn’t resist looking. Josh’s collection - someone somewhere is wondering who cut a chunk out of their hot air balloon.

I’m surprised how much I like Bert’s collection because I have not been a fan of his clothes. I wish Anya’s collection had been more varied…there’s too much of that same dress.

Oliver, poor Oliver, his clothes are just so depressing. I want to give him a hug!

Speaking of Oliver - what’s with all the zippers in his collection?

Bert is really messing with my mind. First I liked him because he’s middle-aged (like me!) Then his snarkiness kind of alienated me, until last week’s episode where (I thought) his behavior sort of redeemed him, especially when compared to Josh. Now, his final runway clothes actually look good.

I love what Tom and Lorenzo said about Bert in last week’s episode:

“We thought he acted maturely and appropriately dismissive of Josh’s ridiculous behavior. BELIEVE US, you don’t get to be an out middle-aged gay man without meeting (and dating) PUH-LENTY of Joshes.”

^agree with scout about bert’s final collection. He may not be the most ‘design-y’ but he knows how to use the right fabrics and fit the models perfectly. Loved the clean lines, restraint with color/pattern…UNlike Josh’s collection…wow what a hot mess.

And yes, pugmadkate, poor oliver…those clothes are just so…sad! And what was up with those giant painted on brows? Hope that’s not a new trend!

My guess is Bert, Laura and Anya for final 3.

Yeah, I hated Oliver’s line. I can appreciate the work and craftsmanship that went into constructing those clothes with all that leather and all those zippers. But still not attractive.

Anyone watching tonight? So funny. Especially Oliver - Oh my God, Boobs - what do I do - panic and hysteria!

Yes, I watched and Oliver was funny. I was turned off by the husband who couldn’t stop talking about his wife’s boobs. But what I can’t really understand is how Kimberly was not in the bottom three. Her outfit looked like something you’d see a lady of the night wearing. It did her customer no favors and was completely unattractive.

I cracked up at Tim telling the one lady that the dress fit her well up top because she was “firm”…:D

A night without controversy (although I do agree with mimk6 - I thought Kimberly’s dress was hideous. She did look like a streetwalker.) I really liked Josh and Viktor’s looks, and I thought it was obvious who the loser was.

And dare I say it - I thought the challenge itself was pretty good, too. Some of those men were a little too much, but I liked it when they were interviewed by the designers: what does your wife like to wear? What colors does she prefer? I turned to my husband at that moment and asked what he would answer, and he got that awful deer-in-the-headlights look on his face…

I also thought this challenge was really interesting. So many designers struggled in working with the husband’s vision and the wife’s modification of that idea.
Oliver seemed baffled by the idea of a real client with opinions…he says at one point “I like it when the model just stands there and doesn’t talk”.

Did you stick around to watch the preview for next week?? What was so funny last night was watching the looks of horror on the designers’ faces when all the men trooped out on the runway with Heidi last night, and all of their comments about never doing menswear . . . and then it turns out last night, they’re doing (real!) women’s wear. But in the preview for next week, it’s guess what?! – men’s wear! This is gonna be good . . . in probably a horrible way. I love Anthony Ryan, especially his attitude with all the challenges – he doesn’t go negative the way some of the others do – but, boy, I was nervous for him last night. That dress was awful.

Remember Project Runway’s Christian Siriano? (crazy hair and “fierce”) It looks like he is on his way to the big time:

Or our friend Gretchen Jones - her models don’t look too happy:

I’m racking my brains trying to remember kimberlys dress - what was it?

I was so relieved Ryan didn’t go home. it was a bad dress, but he is usually good. The guy that went on and on about his wife’s boobs - I’d have smacked my husband up the side of the head.

Agree about smacking DH on the head if he acted that way on national television. Kimberly’s outfit involved a short black sort-of shiny skirt that really emphasized the woman’s posterior and a top that I think was red that had only one shoulder and some kind of fabric growth sprouting all over the top front of it. Hideous.

Oh yes - I remember wondering if the lady had a huge butt or if it was just the design. The skirt and top were pretty awful but sort of nondescript at the same time.

Burt’s dress was very unflattering I thought. I don’t like Josh, but his winning dress was very pretty. I though thingies yellow bag that he made to go with the outfit was great, even though the judges said the accessories were too much.

I really really liked the winning dress. Don’t like the designer, but loved the dress. I want that dress. It would look good on me.

The second from the bottom - bad bad bad but he was trying to replicate the lost dress. Glad he is being given a second chance.

The losing dress: I think that when I was 13 and started making my own clothes, I might have made a dress that fit like that.

And Oliver - he is what “real” women hate in a fashion designer. He wants the dresses to look on the models exactly like they do on the hanger.

Oliver- so bizarre. Between the odd accent after living 16 years in the US (and how old is he? just how long did he learn some other language in another county to create that accent) and his drab neutrals he is so unusual, but the comments on the frustration in having to work on the real body and with real people is hilarious

Love that TLo refer to Oliver as ‘Precious Moments’, he is such a basket case. Everytime I see him, I think of the SNL character ‘Stefan’. Given the amount of screen time devoted to him last night, I was surprised he was just ‘safe’. He was so rude with the female client, although she was so Type-A I think it accentuated the issues and made for good theater.

I also loved the winning dress and also the two-piece outfit that didn’t win. I hated Burt’s dress which I thought might get him ousted. It looked cheap and like something you’d see a slightly desperate woman wear to a club. Nice to see a woman feel that great about her body though and, as obnoxious as her husband was, I guess it’s nice he appreciates it too. I just wondered if he appreciates anything else about her. I didn’t love Anya’s outfit as much as the judged did. I’m not a fan of the one-sleeve look.
