We have many fashion threads on CC, so we should re-introduce the reality show of fashion - PR!
Admittedly, I am behind. last night I watched the preview show where they introduce all the designers and then the first episode - which ended up being an unconventional challenge.
I am very intrigued by many of these designers! I’m not far in but it seems they have picked a good crop.
I know I’m a few episodes behind so I may not chime in until I catch up, but please, feel free to share your favorite designers, designs and any comments about the sure-to-happen PR drama!
I was ready to bail on PR after last year’s disastrous winner (Ashley, with the pastel plus-size looks.) Yet here I am again. Enjoying the season, but recording the shows, so I can skip all the drama, concentrating instead on the clothes. The black light challenge was fun.
I read an interview with Tim Gunn recently in which he said Ashley’s final collection had the ugliest clothes he had ever seen, and that the judges had acknowledged that they had wanted a plus-sized designer to win. I’ll try to find the interview; can’t recall where I saw it. I love how honest and outspoken Tim Gunn can be.
Good for Tim. Of course, Ashley Nell has this whole line at JC Penney, so she may end up being one of their most financially successful winners. Straight from Project Runway to JC Penney. That sort of says it all. Not that I object to anyone shopping at Penney’s IRL…it’s just that looking too commercial, too ready to wear has been the kiss of death for many contestants over the years.
I’m watching. Like most reality competition shows, it takes me a few weeks to get to “know” the contestants before I start to like one or more in particular. However, I will say, that I’ve enjoyed the season so far, and have had no issues yet with any of the top/bottom critiques.; I’m sure that will change.
^^ I agree with you, musicmom. Tasha should have gone home. That ill-fitting yellow bikini was terrible and so was the black robe.
I didn’t like Roberi’s swimsuit as much as the judges did. The coverup was nice but it didn’t match the colors in the bathing suit and the bathing suit shape was odd. The winning design was very cool, i thought.
I expected the girl with the Harry Potter glasses to do better than she did after winning the last two challenges. Her design was blah.
Yep, Tasha should have gone home. I liked the winning look from the front, but half her butt was hanging out the back. I noticed they didn’t have the model turn around.
Tasha should’ve gone. Wrong print, didn’t fit, crummy robe, no style.
I think it’s sort of funny that all of a sudden lavender and pastels are “juvenile” after lauding them when Ashley won.
(and the girl should have said the computer screen color wasn’t true.)
Hate to think they’ve already picked out their winner so soon like they did with Ashley.
As I watched I noticed the designers had a look book of sorts with Heidi’s swimwear designs (black, no other identifying factors), therefore each “look” created by the designers was actually a replication (minus embellishment and fabric choices) of her collection.
I personally thought the winning look was sharp, but mostly because of the fabric.
I have to agree that Tasha had the least attractive suit, and actually didn’t mind the one that was eliminated.
I also thought Tasha’s was by far the worst look: ugly black cover-up, messy print, horribly made ill-fitting bikini. The one that was eliminated at least fit well and, though the print was somewhat juvenile, at least it was kind of fun and cute.
Regardless of whether Tasha’s design was the worst, am I the only one wondering what bottom of the D-list celebrity barrel they’re scraping these guest judges from? Who are these people?!?
