Whatever the reason for Tasha getting a pass Thursday night, it certainly wasn’t her talent. So what was it - her race, size, age? Or maybe . . . just maybe . . . she has a tendency towards hysteria that just hasn’t been displayed yet, and that is why they decided to keep her around.
So why does Tim Gunn keep doing the show, given the obvious manipulation of the results? I can’t imagine he enjoys it.
I think the judges got the winner right, but could not understand the love for the 2nd place cover-up design. The ric rac trim accent used at the shoulder and on the skirt between the white and print fabrics was tacky and crooked. I did like the print.
I also did not like the design of the suit made from the feather print. Not flattering IMO.
I agree, Tasha’s was clearly the worst. Bad design, extremely bad fit, and very shoddily made. I don’t think I saw any footage of Tasha at a sewing machine - it appeared as if she was hand-sewing the swimsuit.
Sewing on stretch material and on a teeny bikini is hard. Hand sewing the 10 stitches on that bikini was probably easier. But, it was still awful.
It would be more of a challenge if they had to fit bathing suit models with boobs. None of those suits had any lining, any support, any underwires. I thought all the cover ups were lame too.
Well, I am speechless. I did not like the winning team’s looks. I thought the mauve and yellow were awful and the embellishment was hideous. On the other hand, the losing team’s collection was not business attire at all, and, other than that weird blouse, it looked a lot better than the other. I am surprised that they sent anyone home at all, and also surprised that Tim did not use his save. (Or maybe I’m just cranky and need to go to bed!)
I’m just watching it now (west coast time) and the only two items I felt were office/entrepreneur like were the leather jacket and the beige dress. Everything else looked cheap and goth. They yellow coat was huge and looked like fleece. The blue print pants? Ug glee. Didn’t like the yellow skirt either.
I think this is the first season I can think of where there is no villain and no fool among the designers. How nice (though a little dull) to see team members work together without tearing one another down or backstabbing, and how nice to see the losing team members genuinely distraught at the prospect of one of their cohort having to leave. I wonder whether the show just cast an exceptionally decent and kind bunch of contestants this time, either by accident or design, or whether some judicious editing was used to portray a drama-free team episode. In any event, it look’s like the crown is Erin’s to lose.
I was expecting the Tim Gunn save, too. The editing sure made it look like it was coming. I agree that the losing team had the better collection. I thought that blue/green print jacket was great (the print pants not so much!). Erin’s yellow coat looked ridiculous and I don’t see how she thought that garish shade of yellow would look good with mauve (well, they kept calling it mauve but it sure didn’t look like it to me).
I thought that putting the embellishments on the suit made it look “juniors” or “tacky” or “discount store” or any of the other slams that Heidi typically uses. That beige dress with the bib was definitely the worse of the night.
Last night definitely proved to me that I know nothing about “fashion.” I hated the winning team’s stuff, hated that shade of yellow, and can’t believe they actually thought women in Silicon Valley would wear such pieces to work. Had any of them actually been to Palo Alto?
I did like that team’s enthusiasm and, well, youthfulness. The losing team had better designs, but I agree it was more evening wear rather than office wear.
The losing team had it rough. They received so little money because the judges didn’t like the substance of their pitch. Then they lost because they didn’t stay true to their pitch.
The losing team’s collection was not “business” - at least no business I’ve ever worked in! I did think some of their pieces were wearable, but certainly didn’t match their pitch. I didn’t like any of the pieces from the winning team, and I was really surprised that they won…The emotions from the losing team was really something, and I too was expecting Tim to use his “save” especially when he appeared to be crying or at least very choked up as he sent Alex home.
Well, you wouldn’t know this week if Alex got saved or not because they would save that for later…so there is still hope. If Tim doesn’t save him it’s because he doesn’t fit the current season profile of who is to actually win (I’m soured after Ashley). Personal opinion is pick Tasha for a teammate no matter what for upcoming challenges.
I think the “drama” is less this season because it appears more of the contestants are older with actual experience and schooling. I have a short list of people I’d send home but at least I still like them.
I like Erin but I challenge her to make something that isn’t yellow. Only Paddington Bear wears yellow and that is as a raincoat. Only time I see yellow is on a clearance rack. Pretty much isn’t a great color for many people. That yellow coat was pretty tacky (and horrible with the color combo–somebodies have no taste).
And she’s the one that cut the dress short (should’ve turned it into a top but then they’d need pants).
And almost three times the money? Really? Where did it go?
Didn’t BOTH teams say they were designing for career women? What gives?
While you don’t normally wear metallic for work, you also don’t usually go with tight pencil pants and bomber jackets either. Or ugly yellow coats with cheap beads nor too short tube dresses (probably get sent home in that unless you’re a sales rep).
I’m not understanding the judging this season. The yellow coat was awfu. That color did not work at all with the beige fabric they called mauve, and the bling embellishments made it look like a hot-glue-gun-gone-mad craft project. Also, it looked like they pinned together some fabric at the very last minute to give the illusion of a skirt to wear beneath that coat. How could they get away with that in a winning collection?
I was impressed by the demeanor of this batch of contestants. It was quite remarkable that multiple members of the losing team nominated themselves for elimination.
