Project Runway Season 15!

Ya, I wish Laurence had won. They said her collection lacked pizzaz. If she could have included some of her showstoppers from the season…

I haven’t liked Erin’s stuff from the start - too cartoonish and craftsy. I’d have been fine with any of the other 3 winning.

Once again, I’m frustrated with the winner. I thought her whole collection was immature and crafty looking. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said I’ll never watch Project Runway again (ex. after Gretchen and Ashley won) but maybe just maybe this is it.

I would not wear Erin’s clothes but I understand why she won. Fashion on that level is meant to be an attitude, style and statement of something you don’t typically see in the store. It is more like art and less about what a typical woman would wear. Some of the clothing sites my daughter likes often leave me scratching my head at the unflattering boxiness of the clothes. Something like that would look terrible on me but he same piece on a young figure looks fine. I loved Laurence’s clothes and wish her well.

Anyone watch the Juniors? My first impression is that they are not as talented as last season’s group, but it will be interesting to see what they do next.

I thought Rik’s stuff all looked the same. TOO cohesive. Loved Lawrence’s sophisticated colors, except the the crotchless last look. Erin’s was weird. I didn’t like the presentation of Roberti’s, but liked the dresses.

@happy1 and yet, 7 years later, here you are.

I haven’t been a fan of Erin’s once she showed how conceited she was - as for her clothes…um, very (VERY!) young, not particularly inspiring (“special” but not inspiring), however there is a market out there for items like she makes…the real issue is they aren’t mass-marketable. They would be far too expensive to replicate on a large scale. So she’ll likely have to go the boutique route and had better have a lot of ideas to keep up and fresh. When she came on the runway before her show, all giggly…YUCK…I cringed. Then at the tail end of the show, she did some cutesy thing that again made me cringe. She is incredibly immature. I thought Laurance’s collection had promise, and actually thought her opening jumpsuit was amazing, and could see a lot of (younger) women wanting to wear something like it. I thought Roberi pulled it off in the end, and really liked his final collection. And I liked him. Over all, a decent season, nothing earth shattering, and I will watch the next season…as well as PR Jr.

I found myself rooting for Roberi–thought his collection was fun without being cartoonish. Oh well.

I could not stand Erin’s look all season and never understood the judges fawning over them. Her collection seemed it would be suitable for jr high schoolers. Yellow bananas??? I liked Lawerence all season, but was a little underwhelmed by her collection. I thought Roberi had put together the best collection.

It’s Harajuku (Japan) street wear - right down to the coats Erin was making, the 3D applique, and the yellow. The one thing she did, I think, was tone it down for US sensibilities.

Don’t want to start a new thread for PR Junior (someone can - it just won’t be me!) . . . but wondering if anyone else caught one of the young contestant’s names: Cartier Dior.

Maybe someone else can comment. I am speechless.

Like, whatever I, like, thought of Erin’s clothes, I like, really couldn’t stand the way she, like, talked.

Banana placement on the skirt was unfortunate, but probably intended. I hated Rik’s denim with a passion and had higher hopes for him. Laurence was also disappointing as I had liked so much of her clothing through the season. My choice would have been Roberi, and really it was confusing as his critique was the best (could be worn by people in their 20s and their 50s) and 1/2 of the judges said they would never wear Erin’s stuff. Erin’s collection was certainly the most “different” but that doesn’t make it good.

Well, we all knew Erin was going to win just a few episodes in. No surprise that she did. She made the same yellow coat all season and turned it into a pink balloon at the end. And we knew she’d have yellow in the collection but it just got more literal with actual bananas. Her critique wasn’t good–they said she was an immature designer and her stuff needed work. Guess that doesn’t matter. It never does.

But the others didn’t help themselves either–especially Lawrence. For someone who does leather work as well as she does with super style she didn’t do any. So disappointing. I liked the jump suit but the collection really did lack the pizzazz she normally has.

Here’s my take:
Lawrence won the season.
Roberi won the runway show.
Erin won the creative, editorial award.

I LOVED Roberi’s collection. I APPRECIATE Erin’s work and vision. She would have a very narrow audience. Those who like REALLY expensive quirky. Lawrence’s designs might be expensive but I think she would have a wider audience.

Here’s my other take. PR has a winner “type”. I feel they look for someone with personality who can come back to judge, interview new contestants, represent them in other ways. Like Mondo. Seth Allen. Anthony. Erin fits that person. Lawrence does not. She is almost too “serious” a designer for them!

I really enjoyed this season and I felt that I really cared for all 4 finalists.

I will be watching PRJR but haven’t found the time to start watching yet. I’d be totally up to participate in a thread if someone starts one! But I can’t start yet because I haven’t watched!
