But weird to start it right around the holidays. Thank goodness for DVR’s!
Did anyone watch tonight? I agree with the winner and the loser. Can’t wait to see their Fashion Week collections!
I did. I was relieved at the result!
Honestly, I’m just happy that Lawrence is in the final. I look forward to seeing her collection.
^^ Me, too. She’s one of my favorites, mainly because she doesn’t get involved with drama (although there hasn’t been much this season), she finishes her garments on time (or early), never seems stressed or rushed, and she’s nice to everybody. Her clothes haven’t always been my favorites but I would love to see her win. I don’t think it’ll happen, though. I think Erin will win based on how the editing has gone so far.
I was disappointed that this was another unconventional materials episode. This was clearly about getting sponsorships from the motel chain and Austin shops instead of crafting an interesting challenge, but is the show that hard up for cash? The ability to be creative with weird materials is a nice talent, but I’m not sure what it has to do with being a great designer. Erin has shown she can make flower appliques out of anything, but to me that makes her a great kindergarten teacher at best. One unconventional materials challenge in a season is fun, more than that is stupid.
I actually think that the designers this season are very talented, and compare very favorably to past seasons. I don’t think you can really compare them to the Bravo years, because designers had double the time for those challenges. But compared to other seasons since the move to Lifetime, I think this group is very, very talented. It’s incredible what they can do in a single day. I personally think they decided to cast on talent this year, instead of capacity for drama. My guess is that Tim Gunn was behind that decision, after the disastrous last season.
I think the final four designers are all great; I’d be happy if any one of them won.
Laurence, Roberi and Rik are very low key, which is why they didn’t get a lot of air time this season, compared to Erin, who emotes more on camera.
50 nights at Best Westerns! how funny! (Although we did have a quick stay at a best western when we took D to college and it was fine.) I just laughed though when they went "OOoohh " as the girls walked into their rooms in austin.
looking forward to final collections. I think the right 4 are in the mix, and my bet is on Lawrence.
I agree that all 4 of these designers are strong and it promises to be a great finale.
I love him but was shocked that the judges went gaga over Roberi’s dresses! But so happy to have him over Corni. I was a little worried Rik might not make it - very happy with the final 4.
Happy w final four also.
Watching last week’s show. They actually had to share rooms, at a Best Western? And act excited for their free breakfast? And that was Austin? A feed store and BBQ? Poor designers!
I always enjoy seeing the home visits-- found Laurence’s and Roberi’s stories particularly touching. I didn’t care for Laurence’s collection, though…just didn’t excite me. Rik’s seemed kind of disjointed. Erin’s has that happy vibe, as Tim mentioned.
I missed the home visits. I was really disappointed in the collections of all the designers. Where was the leather in Laurence’s pieces?
Ya, I wish Laurence had made a collection moving from a tough, leather, black look to softer. Even a white silk dress with black leather jacket. I was hoping for her to win.
I taped, and am watching now, so don’t know final outcome. I just wish she had stuck to what she did best on the show.
Honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan of any of the collections. And I agree with the above about Lawrence. Sometimes the designers are able to make some last minute changes that really improve their collections and I’m hoping that will be the case, but as of now. nothing really excites me. In the future perhaps Tim Gunn should visit the designers earlier in the process to be sure they are on a good track. Sigh…
I was not a fan of any of the collections either. It would not surprise me to see Laurence completely turn things around, though. Maybe the producers planned this bland preview for the dramatic effect. I hope.
How? Laurence has no black, no leather, and less than a day. Plus, they have no fabric but what they brought with them.
I too wish Tim had been more critical when he visited.
Didn’t Laurence have a couple of army green leather outfits in the collection she showed to Tim? Perhaps she can repurpose the material.
I somewhat enjoyed Michael Kors’ critiques last night. (historically I have wanted to throw things at the TV when he speaks)
Whaaatt??? Roberi was robbed!
