Project Runway Season 15!

I wish they would get more than one day for the challenge-- seems too rushed.

Laurence shouldve won episode 6, her black dress was so much better than Jennis look. I wouldve been ticked. I love the red leather from episode 7.

Laurence is going to win the whole thing and righty so. Her talent, sewing skills, vision are way above anyone else.

I watched the past episode and the current one back to back. I STILL couldn’t tell if the models were moved around. There are a lot of black models and they changed their hair and I just couldn’t follow who was who.

The shoulder balloons were horrible. I did sort of like the bat wing jacket in the top 3 and did like her pants better than the winner. I didn’t think any of the designs had anything to do with the trip to Universal.

My comments:

  • Erin has used her chances. She needs to put her ego aside, stop bragging and pull her designer panties up and put out a quality look again.
  • I didn’t mind Brik’s outfit. It did look sewn well. The other guy in the bottom - that was hideous, looked not even close to finished - that TOP!
  • Every challenge has been only one day. They need to give them an occasional “2” and then the designers need to do something fabulous.
  • How exhausting that must have been to BE exhausted and then have to jump on a plane (twice in a day?) for a literally hours trip to Universal. All that was was fulfilling another sponsor - at the expense of the designers.

I did not hate Brik’s outfit either, My DVR cut off before someone was sent packing. I don’t think it should have been Brik but the one who did that terrible yellow top with the side boob and terrible pants.

And I agree with you @abasket, those poor designers and that totally sponsor crap.

Funny, my DVR cut off after Brik was eliminated but before Heidi kissed him goodbye - did anything happen or was said by anyone afterwards - Tim? The designers? Brik?

@abasket You didn’t miss anything.

My biggest issue with this episode was that I had no idea what “street fashion” was, and, after doing a little research, I still don’t really know. It seems as if the term can encompass just about anything that isn’t very dressy. So this may as well have been a “make anything you want” show. And as happens pretty much every week, the clothes weren’t judged by whether they fit into the purported clothing category or embodied the supposed theme. Laurence is smart. She knows the way to win is to pretty much ignore the terms of the weekly challenge and just do what you do best.

I think this is an example where the judges look at overall potential and/or past challenges. I did not think Brik was the worst last night, but I do think his overall body of work was weak compared to the others.

i was thinking about that the other day too – how the models used to be chosen each week and we heard thoughts from the models. Ive been watching past seasons lately and i’m trying to figure out why the designers have to do everything so quickly. Its actually amazing how much they accomplish in such a short time.

re: this past week, i liked brix’s two pieces. not together, but i liked them. He should not have gone home. And yes – as @MommaJ said – laurence is smart!

In the scenes from next week it looks like it’s a team challenge. Tim called two designers “mean girls.” Maybe the days of everyone getting along are ending?

The meanest girl on the show is one of the boys. I think the producer’s love of drama is why he didn’t go home this week. (Though I agree the vomit shorts would have sent any other designer home)

Laurence is just in a different league.

I think Laurence is a lot older than most of the others–and don’t we all know here at the Parent Cafe that wisdom comes with age?

If I remember correctly, the rash of one-day challenges set in when the show moved from Bravo to Lifetime. I think it was a way to cut the budget, with less time to house and feed the designers and less filming time. (That was also when the sponsors–accessories, hair and makeup–started a slow decline in quality.) And I imagine the judges prefer getting the season over with faster, so they aren’t going to complain. Some of the more stunning designs from early seasons could never have been accomplished in one day. Having more time to think and execute really makes a difference. Heck, I even wish they got to spend more time in Mood, rather than having to rush their choices.

Glad Roberi won. And got a little teary when TG saved Cornelius.

I was kind of surprised that Tim used his save, but agree that Cornelius’ team did not treat him kindly.

I really didn’t care much for the neutral collection at all, but loved all the blue looks. I liked Erin’s red coat, too, but I’m not liking HER very much lately.

I don’t think Lawrence is that old. In the bio they did at the beginning, she said she got pregnant as a teen and her child is about 8 or 10 I think. I’ll watch for the ages again. She did train in Paris.

Lawrence is 41. I noticed last night when they flashed it briefly on the screen.

Was also surprised that Tim Gunn used the save for Cornelius. Perhaps it was a result of the unvair “mean girls” attitude of his teammates more than a huge desire to see more of his work. I thought he would hold it in case Lawrence got into trouble on a challenge down the road or something (she is the one whose designs I really want to see).

Looking at the designers left I think TG used his save wisely.
Roberi, Rik, Lawrence, Erin will be staying. They’ve been pretty consistent with their designs. Maybe they’ll send four to fashion week again.Maybe not Erin if she does any more of those horrible shorts.

The rest are pretty much on the same level playing field skill/design/experience wise so will keep battling it out week to week.
It was just too unfair for Cornelius to go home this week. Can’t believe he made that pleated skirt on top of the other pieces. I am really surprised none of them grabbed black fabric at Mood. Heck, I have some and I don’t even sew.

( Cornelius is nicer than me. I would’ve told Erin her model would be a bit cold only wearing underwear underneath that coat…) and then go for a nap.
