PSAT '09 Form S Official Thread

^ true. :)

Usually is a 77.

so what’s the consensus so far? i think most people think its casual attitude/application from before

actually i believe it was “casual approach”, and that’s what i got.

I have fever (102F) for 2 days, and crawled into classroom this morning …

It’s hard to get perfect score of PSAT, I’m praying…

just checking: a^b=64. how many choices?

a^b=64 four choices

2^6, 4^3, 8^2, 64^1

^ four

2^6
4^3
8^2
64^1

^good. is the psat usually this easy? i remember it being much harder last year, but it could have been that practice psat packet =p. any1 take it 3 times?

^ 4.
EDIT: Whoops, haven’t taken the PSAT 4 times lolll…was answering your previous Q.

I’m sorry you’re not feeling well. But just know that you do NOT need a perfect score! You only need to pass your state’s threshold for Nat’l Merit Semifinalist status, if that’s what you’re aiming for. Colleges don’t see your PSAT score.

oh yeah and what were the choices for the one about gulping sherry wine? idr casual as an answer

any1 remember the work for the “99-1000” question?

it was 171 right?

^^pheochromacytoma, you’re right sorry. Yes, I’m pretty sure it was the casual (approach) option. I could be wrong, but I think that’s the general consensus as well. Thoughts?

And did we ever come to a conclusion on the strike question? I’m fairly sure I picked the wrong answer (the shorter one)…but I’m still not quite sure why it is wrong. :/

^^what was the question?

college i have it posted on pg 30

^^theres only two possible answers ive seen so far. casual and the one you said. do you happen to remember the others?

how was the corn problem $2.50?
the $1 can was 28 ounces, the $.75 can was like 16, and the $.5 can was 10
you need at least 60 ounces for the recipe. multiply three for $1 can (two cans would only get you 56 ounces), multiply four for $.75 can (three cans would only yield 48 ounces), and multiply six for the $.5 can (for perfect 60 ounces)
all of those produce $3.00 total. so shouldn’t the the least costly brand still be $3.00 regardless?

You could do it two ways:

2x$1=$2 (56 oz.)
+

1x$.50=$.50 (10 oz.)

$2.50 (66 oz.)

OR

1x$1=$1 (28 oz.)
+

2x$.75=$1.50 (32 oz.)

$2.50 (60 oz.)

you can have 2 of the 28 ounce, 1 of the 10 ounce. $1 + $1 + $.5 = $2.5

^^thats the maximum, the question said “at least enough” with minimum price underlined.

so $2 = 56 oz + .5= 2.50
