**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

@gettingschooled Thnx man. I’d be OK with getting commended but I hope I won’t miss semi-finalist by a few points or something, that would majorly suck. Yes, I got a 217/228.

@guanlinzhou I think the score is out of a 1520 total, right? That is a fantastic score. I really think you will qualify no matter the state.

I started a PSAT: Class of 2019 thread…if anyone has freshmen. New to all the testing…want to understand better what is most relevant right now.

My Daughter got her scores today 1420 with an NMSC Index of 212. I think we will be close in NC. Unfortunately going to be a long wait.

@dazedaura I do not have an asterik; however, I got a 196 for my selection index :frowning:

@anon25043314, Based on D15’s process, in spring 2016, the cutoff for commended will be put out, so you will know if you have a chance to move on or not. Next September, the cutoff score for each state will be announced. If you score at or above the cutoff for your state, then you are a semifinalist and will move on to see if you become a finalist. That involves paperwork that both you and your school will do, plus a grade check (few to no C’s and no D’s or F’s, or you will not progress to finalist).

Guys, remember this year SI is based out of 228, not 240, and the total score 1520 not 1600. So don’t compare your SI to last year’s cut off score directly.

How do you get your scores without the access code?

Ok, would someone please walk me through how to access the scores? D has an account, the site keeps asking me to update it so I do, but then I just get the screen with the purple icon that says “Get Ready for PSAT/NMSQT Scores.” Also, where did you get the access code from, and why do you need that if you have an account and paid for the test yourself?

Yesterday when I went on, I could see her 10th grade scores. As of last night, that’s gone now. Any ideas for me? Wait, now the 10th grade scores are back, as her “most recent” scores.

So if your selection index is above the cutoff they decide on (probably close to the prepscholar estimate), do you know you’re a semifinalist, or could you be commended? If you’re well above the threshold can you be certain of semifinalist?

I got a 1490 in Florida with a 37,37,and 37.5 on the subsections. My selection index is therefore 223, and the FL estimate is 199.

i got a 215 in ny now im nervous

@engineur yes but that was a 216/240 this is a 215/228

My son got a 1410 with SI 208 in KY. How does a 208/228 this year compare to scores last year out of 240?

Be especially careful with prep scholar if you are in Texas. It lists the cut off as 218 which was right for the Class of 2015, but it jumped to 220 for Class of 2016. They really need to update their site!

I am looking at the PrepScholar projected cut-offs. My 9th grader got a 197…would qualify in some states?
How is that possible?

@mtrosemom where have you read that they will “announce” cut off scores? In the past we’ve had to deduce it or get lucky and have someone with access to the secret booklet that lists the names of all the semifinalist leak to CC.

1460 with a selection index of 216. Crossing my fingers that that’ll be enough for Illinois (as last year the cutoff was 215) though it’s really unsure until College Board actually releases cutoffs.

@a20171 that’s true, all the speculation on here has me nervous though. guess i just have to wait and see

where on the collegeboard website are you able to view the SÍ score

@coffeeaddicted
I believe the 199 estimate for Florida is way too low since PrepScholar just subtracted 12 from last year’s 211 cut-off.

Florida has been somewhere in the middle so a 223, which appears to a “high 99%” based on what other have reported, should be good for Florida.

Congratulations, great score!
