**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

I can’t access my scores, and when I click the “missing test scores button”, it gives me two options: access code, or student ID. What is this “Student ID”?

@appgodxoxo @trig2017 I think both of you can expect NMSF letters in the Fall. You did very well on the test!

I thought this was a discussion thread- isn’t there already a thread started for posting individual scores?

@jerzmaster Thanks, I really hope so!

@bdj001 I think a 209 will make the cut for Iowa based on how the state performed last year. You will be close bdj.

@jakeolsen11 I think you will also be very close in FL. However, FL typically scores higher than IA.

@EarlVanDorn ik he is which is great considering he’s the one that is going to be helping me apply to colleges and writing recommendations and such but oh well

Too much speculation in this thread. For all we know they might even have more than 16,000 NMSF’s this year due to increased number of testers and a different PSAT…

Where is everyone getting the second number (ie: 1420, 210)…where did the 210 come from?

@bamabound i dont really know if im following your logic but i like the way it sounded. can you figure those clculations for a 214 SI in Illinois where the cut off last year was a 215. Thanks

@maksbow The national merit scholarship program is separate from the PSAT… a whole different organization runs this. They target about 16,000 students every year for NMSF recognition. This has not changed because of the new test.

i get where everyone saying “it’s just one more thing to add to an application, not a big deal” is coming from, but for me, 1 point could be the difference between me getting $120,000 in scholarship money and the opportunity to actually go to the school I want to go to(not saying it’ll help me get in, but it WILL make it affordable). so for a lot of people, it’s a LOT more than just a title

@4kids2graduate The second score is the NMSC selection index. It should be part of your only PSAT report.

I have a question: Why is it that some people have the same PSAT score, but different SI scores? Please tag me in your answer so I see it, I really want to know the mechanism behind this!

@engineur I completely agree with you. The NMSC is the largest merit based scholarship program in the country every year. However, even if you miss out on these scholarships there will be numerous scholarships available to you based on your academic achievements. All is not over based on the PSAT test.

@engineur i totally get what you are saying. i broke down in tears this morning bc i thought that this meant that I actually get to go off to college just to find out that i am probably on the wrong end of the cutoff and will have to wait until September. The title means nothing I think a lot of people forget how important the money can be.

@stresstasticlife It’s because the PSAT score counts math and reading 50/50, but the index counts reading and writing 2/3 and math 1/3. This means that a kid who is stronger on verbal can get a higher SI.

She will most definitely make it… congrats!

Hi guys…so I’m pretty much clueless on National Merit. If we make the cutoff do we become a semifinalist? and then what do we need to become finalist? SAT scores, an application etc? And only when finalist is there a scholarship?
