**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

still no scores…

I don’t know why have a 25 or higher ACT writing would be better.

Still haven’t gotten my scores yet :(((
For those that don’t know, the people who have their results have the questions/answers/explanations for every question. Wouldn’t hurt to ask your friends

Does anyone have an idea what the selection index will be for national merit commended?
Is a 203 with 98% plausible?

Still no scores for D! I know she doesn’t have an access code, but where do you find the student number? I entered the one off of last year’s report, but no luck. I tried the access code from there too, lol.

According to the concordance tables (https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/psat-nmsqt-preliminary-concordance-tables-2015.pdf), the cutoff looks like it’ll be about 1470 if you’re in CA

@TheGFG , I am sorry to hear that. The student number rarely work, according to CB. DD’s didn’t either. Your best bet is to get the access code email if you don’t have multiple account issues like my DD. Or ask GC for raw score.

@stresstasticlife is the 1470 the cutoff for NMSF or commended? I know I won’t be getting semifinalist but I have a little hope for commended.

What do you think the cutoff will be for Ohio. I got a 1430 and a 213 SI, is that good enough for NMSQT

@buffalo11 - what State are you in and what is your Selection Index score (3 digits on the report)?

**I would not give the College Board’s PRELIMINARY concordance tables that much credence. ** They were estimated before there were any real test results, hence the word “PRELIMINARY”.

Based on the PSAT results from my 2 boys (2013 & 2015 tests) who have IDENTICAL percentiles in each of the 3 sections (weird coincidence), I have observed that their SI’s are indeed comparable by a ratio of 228:240.

Hey Guys,
I’m from CT and I got a 1440 (750M, 690W) [37.5M, 37W, 32R] and ended up with an SI of 213.
Per the concordance tables, my score is somewhere between 216-220 (CT’s cutoff last year was 220) so I’m feeling a bit scared thinking that my score is supposedly “on the fence”.
Additionally, the website that’s being tossed around that concluded another set of numbers has the current cutoff at 215…
What do you guys think? Do you guys think that this is enough for Semi-Finalist status?

@CA1543 I received a 203. I am in NY though…

JUST A THOUGHT:

Some people may report lower scores yet higher percentiles due to the age group… some sophomores that took it are commenting too, and for sophomores its possible to get a 99% with say, 34/36, while for juniors, you need a 35/36.

Can anyone post how to find our selection score? And is selection score used to find National Merit? I cab’t access my scores online but my principal told me my score, and score per section.

That link says that the likely cutoff for Kentucky is 213 and I got a 210. Is there any hope?

That comment about sophomores is a very good point.

You’re @destined4harvard , how can you get nmsf if you’re already headed for boston? All jest aside, there’s simply no way to know. A lot of people did pretty okay, i would think it might drop a bit. Nobody really knows what the cutoffs will be. New format, new year, new cutoffs.

Ok @Waldoizhere I just noticed one other thing that might be relevant. Last year, a 210 was NM in my state but that score was in the 98th percentile nationally. This year, I’m in the 99th percentile, so I would think that indicates NM for me. This is really frustrating. :frowning:

Is a 195 SI a good # for NY?
