Still nothing in Ohio. No email. School did not have codes as of Friday. I updated info on my account, and I still have nothing. Any suggestions?
@bomber1 @BearForce1 Try going to Student Score Reports It worked for me to bypass the page asking for an access code. You have to be logged into your account for it to work.
@payn4ward Writing on the 10/14 exam is 34 - 98% user.
We never got an email; however, some of S’s schoolmates had their score “appear” on their CB website and some did not. S was one who received his score. It is bizarre.
@frazzledazzle it takes me to the page but it only shows my psat from last year
Commendation status does not get you anything. Sorry.
@micgeaux, msg #3630 page 242. Answers 1) Yes, 2) Yes. Notes:that’s is the percentiles I see in my report
@PAMom21, msg #3626. Majority of us (parents, test takers) are very anxious about CURRENT 2017 cutoffs but not about historical data interpretation from 2012. It was way off
Yes, I understand that @dallaspiano, I was trying to use previous trends to predict this current year. Not sure what you mean by “way off”? Best wishes!
Heyo! This question might’ve already been answered, but the scores thread talked about TASP and Stanford emails - what’s up with those? Are they from last year’s scores?
Anyways, I’m curious to see how the cutoffs are going to be scaled this year. The test felt much easier than the old PSAT, but that might just be me. Haha, maybe it’s a hint for me to take the ACT, since I’ve been told it’s more similar in format to this new PSAT than the current SAT is?
Edit: 35 is 97th user. @payn4ward 's data appears to be correct.
@Nightlark I don’t think there’s a clear correlation between the emails and good scores as I got 224/228 this year and 209/240 last year and didn’t get the TASP email. Have you seen the testmasters cutoffs? They seem pretty realistic. That’s very true. I studied for ACT over the summer and the only PSAT-specific prep I did was go through the practice booklet they gave and I did well. The PSAT Writing is an easier version of ACT English in my opinion and the PSAT Reading is an easier version of ACT Reading. The math sections between PSAT and ACT were also similar in the sense that they were a lot more straightforward than the current SAT math questions.
@PAMom21, msg 3675. Two following links are useful (recent but still estimates)
http://blog.prepscholar.com/psat-score-needed-for-national-merit-scholarship
https://2400expert.com/how-your-child-can-easily-get-100000-in-college-scholarships/
@dallaspiano Both of those show the total score as the cutoff, when we all well know that Selection Index is used for NMS. The second link simply copied (without giving credit) prepscholar’s data. Testmaster seems a lot more accurate:
http://collegeadmissions.testmasters.com/update-psat-scores-cut-national-merit-2016/
Well, the most recent estimate (still an estimate)
https://2400expert.com/class-2017-national-merit-psat-cutoff-scores/
@dallaspiano The new estimate is interesting because it assumes that for each score, a person did perfect on reading/writing. For example, Kentucky’s is 1350. Perfect RW = 760, so 1350-760 = 590. 76+59 =135 x2 = 210 (cutoff last year out of 240). A score of 1350’s highest possible SI Index is 210/228.
Well again, I am a junior in HS. I believe an estimate is an estimate. I saw two reports posted by testmaster. One
on 1/7/2016 by Bill, one on 1/8/2016 by Micheal. I am nervous and anxious about cutoff TX, but I am also prepared of not getting into the pool NMSF. I just hope (just like some parents or test takers) the cutoff would be in favor (myself or yourselves), but in no way I expect to be in the pool 100% due to MORE accurate interpretation
College Board really needs to say what these scores mean. In the previous years, at least we had a definitive score that we could compare with the other years. It’s just not right. Looking at all these predictions doesn’t help, really.
@dallaspiano, you are correct, we now have roughly 246 pages of speculation. Unfortunately everyone is going to have to wait until September. I am predicting TX to be in the 217 ballpark, maybe lower. Hope for the best, and research all of your other college and scholarship options, and best of luck to you.
The problem of directly comparing the subject breakdowns to last year’s PSAT is that this year, the format for the SI is different: there is more weight going to Reading/Writing. So, unfortunately, someone with a stronger R/W score is in a stronger position than someone with a higher Math score, all things equal.
@PAMom21
Do you think 219 is a realistic cutoff for CA? What is the likelihood of that being 220/221?
