“change major” option was the best sign I beleive
DD is the Integrated Business & Engineering program w Honors College- found out at around 4 PM Eastern. Best of luck, everybody!
He got in!!! We are. Over. The. Moon!!! Integrated Business and Engineering. Good luck everyone!!
Got in OOS CS at West Lafayette. 3.97/4 UW 4.36 W, didnt see LOCI on portal and always had the cancel application option
Ok. Well it still says Purdue which is the important part.
Deferred.
OOS FYE
3.83 UW, 4.3 WGPA
35 ACT (36 STEM composite)
VP of NHS
Eagle Scout
Varsity sport
a few other ECs
Which major? I’m assuming engineering?
FYE is First Year Engineering
Yes, FYE -First year engineering
Got it. I’m business so i’m not that familar with the engineering lingo ![]()
I was concerned with the “appeal request” verbiage but i guess it comes with the “change major” application
Same for my daughter who just got into FYE and honors college. Seems so strange, isn’t it more competitive to get into honors college than was supposed to be for overall merit? Excited but as a parent a bit disappointed about the merit but I need to remind myself it’s playing the long game ![]()
did your DD acceptance letter mention the Honors College? my daughter was accepted FYE but there is no mention of Honors. Would that be a no?
Sorry to hear that. You have great stats and ECs. I am very surprised you got deferred. But with your qualification, you should get in in RD. Best of luck!
Apparently 15% of students get merit aid, per some info from the school. I have to think the HC acceptance rate is lower than that, although I really don’t know. Regardless, seems like a mismatch and not a great yield strategy.
Our letter has it in the body of the text.
That surprises me, not that it’s any comfort to hear that now. I also agree there should be a good chance for the RD.
So I indeed was rejected haha… I don’t feel as bad as I thought I would? Just a little disappointed
Yes, 15% get merit aid and HC is 10%.
Here’s the info for merit aid: Freshman Scholarships - Undergraduate Admissions - Purdue University.
FWIW, when my D was a student, anecdotally it seemed that more instate students received merit than OOS.
that’s a good attitude. Go be great.
