Super. She said it just was a section on the common app to include SAT scores and what date. (So in her case highest from Math was in June and highest EBRW was in May). She is taking the SAT again on Saturday and said she feels much more prepared than the Spring!
1500 would be SOOOOOOOOOO nice!
Awesome! My daughter is done with everything except honors essays, they are 500 words each. Hopefully she will submit by 13th.
Today someone told me official transcript and recommendation letters are required to complete Purdue application after submitting common application. I was scared because my S25 has assumed no school transcript and recommendations are required for Purdue. He is not ready to submit the application because he will take SAT this Saturday. Does Purdue really need transcript and recommendation letters? Or this requirement is for Honor College only?
LORs are not required but strongly recommended. IMO, that means send them.
I donât see anywhere that official transcripts are required. Everything Iâm reading says âself reportedâ. Everyone needs to send official transcripts and test scores if they are going to matriculate.
You can verify by having your student email their admission counselor. They can find that person here: Purdue University :: Find Your Counselor - Undergraduate Admissions - Purdue University
This is in the common app for Purdue University:
- School Report Required
- Final Report Required
- Teacher Evaluation(s): 0 Required, 2 Optional
- Other Evaluation(s): 0 Required, 1 Optional
School report is not transcript. Itâs a profile that each high school prepares to give colleges to let them know info about their students, like how many percent of the students are getting 3.8 or above GPA or 3.5 GPA and info such as all the AP courses they are offering as well as where the previous yearâs class of students are matriculating.
Anyone knows answer to this? For the honors program, does the same admissions board review both general and honors supplemental essays? Daughter says she doesnât want to repeat herself on honors essays if the same department reviews both
At least when my D was applying (which is now 6 years ago), honors college admins/profs made the decisions about honors, not the general ad coms.
What I donât know though is if they have access to the rest of the application/essays but I would imagine so.
Thank you!
This kind of ambiguity exists a lot of schools. I would assume some repetition is ok as I also like think professors are involved in admission to honors. Usually honors essays allow a higher word count so there is scope to add more detail and might look like an expanded version of the supplemental.
My D25 submitted her app to Purdue EA on Oct 2. But her counselor and teachers havenât submitted their LORs yet. They said they will do it this week or next. Is there a cause for concern? Will the admissions be already reviewing the application without the LORs? A bit worried.
No reason to worry. Purdue does not do rolling admission. As long as all the materials are in before the EA deadline, there is no issue.
I see. Thank you for your insight. So, all applications for EA will be reviewed after Nov 1, then.
I assume they start reading sooner but they are clear there is no advantage to applying in September rather than the deadline.
My daughter is FR at Purdue this year. I have not seen mention of any new residence hall for 2025-26, do you know where that will be? I read that they are adding on to Hillebrand Hall for Fall 2026 which I understand will be for the Data Mines LLC. There is an apartment complex being built west of Hillebrand, not sure Purdue owns that though and looks like it has a ways to go before complete. Housing is definitely a s-show at Purdue. Looks like a 4 bedroom apt close to campus is going to be $15K or more per person next year and that doesnât include food. We were not prepared for the off-campus housing costs at Purdue, our fault for not researching more.
âThe completion of Hillenbrand South and a student housing project at Third Street and McCormick Road, projected for completion in fall 2025, will contribute to a 35 percent increase in on-campus beds. The scope and location of the project are aligned with the Giant Leaps Housing and Dining Master Plan.â
Hillenbrand South adds nearly 900 beds and yes, itâs specifically for an LLC but that frees up those beds from other dorms.
My Dâs highest rent off campus was $600/mos. â23 grad. They new buildings are very expensive but there were plenty of older buildings that were much more reasonable. Junior year she subletted a bus ride from campus that was even less and was actually very nice. The bus stopped in front of the complex.
Edited to add that it looks like her buildings where she lived are now charging between $750- 850/month so thatâs a big increase but that would still not be close to $15K/year.
Iâll PM you!
Hello, I just want to confirm. So, the counselorâs rec should be submitted by Nov 1 too, am I correct? Thanks.
Yes, all required material has to be in by the 11/1 deadline to be considered for EA.
âTo meet a deadline, your application must be complete , which means we have received all required material.â - Deadlines & Dates - Undergraduate Admissions - Purdue University
Hello group,
my daugther is applying to Purdue for EA. On question. For self-reporting grades and course work,
- would the grade come from the common app - as a single overall grade for 9-12 ?
- and the course work in common app only asks for courses and names, and not the individual grades for them. Is that correct ?
can you please let us know what is the right way to self-report grades and coursework. thanks a lot !
Purdue wants the applicant to list exactly the name of each course and grade received of each course from G9 -11. This is on the common app as well, under âCourses & Gradesâ. Not many colleges need to see this but Purdue does.
Then, if your daughterâs G12 grades are not yet available, just say not available but on the common app, she should list âCurrent or most recent year coursesâ she is taking this year (G12).
Itâs very important that the course names that your daughter writes on the common app be exactly as the ones shown in your daughterâs transcript. It is often encouraged that a copy of the transcript is right in front of the student when she is typing in all the names and grades.
thanks, on the common app education section, I do see a place where courses can be entered, but I dont think I saw a place where the course specifci grades can be entered. I do see a place for entering the overall grade. But dont find a place to enter course specific grades. Did we miss something. thanks,
