Does anyone know where we can find data on deferrals to acceptance conversion? Do they publish how many were deferred and then accepted so we can chance the acceptance?
Purdue tells students that they believe they are capable of being engineers because they admitted them. There are plenty of resources to help from Day 1. Kids fail classes sometimes and they still get internships and still get jobs at NASA. If you donāt like how itās done at Purdue, go with the system that works for you. No point in pushing against a system that doesnāt suit you.
I found this info from last year:
As part of Purdueās effort to avoid over-enrolling students, Purdue is also relying more heavily on deferred decisions for the 2023-2024 admissions cycle; therefore, EA applicants should not be surprised to get a deferral on January 12. Defer is not a deny decision but a method of allowing Purdue to assess space and availability before making a final decision through its Regular Decision review process. Deferred applicants are encouraged to complete a Letter of Continued Interest form in their Purdue Application Portal.
Sorry! You have such high stats. Iām so baffled with your outcome. It may be better to write a really compelling love letter than appealing. My child has 35 ACT (36 superscore), will have completed 21 AP/honors classes by graduation with 5s and some 4s, conducted two years of field related research in our local flagship university and has a peer reviewed publication and international conference presentation among other ECs. Iām totally surprised that she got deferred. But luckily UT Austin liked her. There will be other schools who value you. Good luck!
I am not trying to push, I am trying to understand how it is done because from their website there is no mentioning about the gpa to make to the program and for many of the parents, we simply do not know⦠, and u are right , I do not like it a bit, it simply take kids well being and mental health in exchange of high ranking, oh, I had barely 2.5 gpa in a mechanical Eng programs for the 1st yr, I am a principal Eng in a big company with master degree from Notre dame
@momofboiler1 All these GPA requirements to declare major after FYE, does not exist for the CS major in the college of science?
Anyone here who hasnāt received their Purdue application? My portal doesnāt have the āView decisionā anywhereā¦
*oops I meant Purdue decision
Did you have a note that said āyou have met the EA deadlineā
Yes, I do, but I canāt post an image here for some reason
I wonder if worth contacting them. I think most eveyone has gotten a decision (based on various platform - social media posts, here). Good luck!!
Maybe Iāll wait a day or 2, but if anyone else also faced this, please lmk!
Accepted OOS student without scholarships here, does anyone know how much purdue scholarship (in scholarship central) gives? Even looking through, I donāt meet the requirements of some scholarships, are there others? I really love purdue, but as an OOS student its pricey. Parents want me to go in-state, which I understand tuition wise but its hard to fake love a school.
I think you donāt need to wait a day or 2. Just wait till past midnight and email. My D25 is facing the same with IU. No news yet. Decision date is the same as Purdue.
If you Google āFYE Core Curriculum Mapā or āFYE Launchpadā ā there is some details about FYE classes.
1510 SAT, 4.0/4 GPA, top 1% ECs (Multiple internships at top tech places)
OOS FYE Rejected
I honestly donāt know what to feel or do. Purdue was one of my top two choices, and I was fully expecting to get in. I got way too attached to Purdue and now Itās biting me back lol. Is there anything I can do, like an appeal or something, or is there nothing worth wasting time on trying?
Thanks!
Sorry to hear that. Did you have strong recommendations? and also what is your criteria for top 1% ECs?
CS is direct admit to major.
Thatās an interesting theory, but my course rigor was maxed out (part of why my gpa is on the lower end). Thanks for the advice on writing my appeal, Iāll definitely keep that in mind.
Iām planning on calling up admissions tomorrow and seeing if they can tell me anything about my app so I can elaborate on it in my appeal. Do you think thatās a good idea?
Iām surprised she got deferred, hope you get a favorable decision during rd
