Queen Elizabeth II to visit W&M

http://www.royal.gov.uk/output/Page5531.asp

… canceled our last day of classes, now the end of the semester is a 2 day long party instead of one. More info on the WM site.

and, unrelated, W&M is home to the largest chapter of Alpha Phi Omega in the country. APO is a coed service fraternity, with open pledging (not all chapters have open pledging, but many do). The W&M chapter is 50-75 people larger than the 2nd biggest chapter, which is at Texas A&M (37,000 undergrads).

Just a question, what’s the point of the Alpha Phi Omega propaganda?

The Queen is coming on Blowout… get pumped

I am super-excited about our honored guest!! The place will be buzzing (and I mean that both metaphorically and literally) - this should be entertaining.

I myself deem it warranted to briefly recognize the interesting fact that W&M (between 5,500-5,700 undergraduates) can be home to the largest chapter of Alpha Phi Omega (or any chapter for that matter) in the entire country, especially when beating out another university with a undergrad student body over six times that of W&M. It raised my eyebrow. - shrug -

Damnit! Graduated one year too early.

I thought the Alpha Phi Omega “propoganda” was an interesting fact. Just like the first Phi Betta Kappa was at William and Mary…Yale and Harvard became charter members.

just offering a fact that I didn’t think was worthy of a new thread. It might give some insight into the student body at the school, if you care to look at it that way. A large number of W&M graduates go into the Peace Corps and like minded organizations. A lot of WM students take enjoy helping other people. It is not a “me first” minded institution.

or you could complain about it.

Enjoy 2 days of blowout =)
