Question for Shanghai residents

Hello, I know this is not the typical thread on this forum but I am not sure where else to ask. My daughter and her boyfriend are going to Shanghai to teach English and I was wondering if any of you had some suggestions on what to take? What can they expect weather wise, etc? Any great things they should check out? Thank you all for your help.

-Tianzifang is a place that you can buy small crafts.

-You can go to Anfu Rd, it’s not a tourist site. It’s a resident area with some small western restaurant, coffee shop, grocery shops.

-If you want to buy some imported food, go to City Shop, things are relatively expensive there.

ps. I know people’s square is a famous tourist place but don’t expect to much, I heard it’s literally full of people.

Weather: hot in summer(over 37C (100F) in July&august, wet and stifling ) , quite cold but not that cold(around 0 Celsius) in winter(no snow), very short autumn&spring
