Thanks for the link—the flying boats are an interesting part of aviation history. The air museum near Bradley airport in CT has a couple in their collection, such a gigantic craft.

My dad went to Aviation High School in Queens, NYC and, immediately after graduation, got a job as a mechanic for Pan American World Airlines, where he worked on seaplanes. This was before the existence of JFK Airport (formerly Idlewild).
