“Sawang, a father of five, began exercising at the age of 90, inspired by Siripan and a desire to avoid becoming bedridden like his friends.”
OH DANG. Now I don’t have any excuses!
Heartbreaking story about a 14-year-old who lost her mother and sister (one of the figure skaters) in the DCA plane crash. What an impressive young woman. I was a competitive pianist but not on her level.
That is one man’s opinion. I prefer to believe that it is okay to question the validity of their claims, but of course that is not allowed outside the political forum, so this will have to go unchallenged.

Where Have All My Deep Male Friendships Gone?
I have many guy friends. Why don’t we hang out more?

You are right, it is one man’s opinion. In my opinion (also just one man), it is an opinion worth reading. If someone wants to move it over to the political forum so it can be responded to with other opinions, I’m fine with that. I just looked at it as an article about education and didn’t think about posting it over there.
I thought this was very interesting. Among other things, I’ve been concerned about some of the unhealthy impacts of therapy and the seemingly widespread belief that it’s a panacea for everything. This article only touches on this but it struck me as an interesting perspective.
Good article. I do wonder if that’s why my son blames us for all his problems.
It’s not beyond the bounds of possibility. I’ve worked in mental health since the mid ‘70’s and it’s a faddy field where a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. I’m shocked when I see therapists espousing treatments that have been debunked by research eons ago. I suppose it’s much easier to get an idea out there than to remove it from circulation and many therapists are poorly trained in evidence based treatments.
When my son was in 6th grade, a therapist first diagnosed him with “situational depression,” and DH and I were the situation! She changed her mind after a few months, thank goodness. Geez.
Thanks for sharing. I passed it along to someone else too. I have a son who doesn’t talk to me/us, and I was really a pretty normal parent. My other child, raised in the same house and close in age, would agree with that. I try to keep the door open, but that’s all I can really do. It makes me very sad.
I have found that sometimes my coffee drinking leads to longer lives for those around me!
Well played!
I guess my 2 lattes a day aren’t doing me any good, bc they have too much milk in them :(. DARN!!!
I’ve generally claimed it was good that I drank them because I get 2 cups of skim milk and calcium is good.
OMG!
