When I went for orientation, they said they included freshman grades? If they don’t that makes my GPA even better at 3.9…and then if they count in my summer school grades between junior and senior year I have about a 3.92 I believe.

Well, post 236 (by me!) is a good reason not to trust unverified internet chat.

Moving on, go to the CSUMentor site;

[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - GPA Calculator](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

You can see they take only whole letter grades for a-g courses AFTER 9th grade, plus points for up to 8 semesters of honors… I guess I was confused by the second bold paragraph that mentions 12th grade.

Note the last paragraph on that page;
“Important notice: The calculated GPA returned is based on your input. It is not an official grade point average. Campuses may calculate your grade point average differently based upon your official high school transcript.”

Then take your new gpa to here;
[CSUMentor - Plan for College - High School Students - Calculate Your Eligibility Index](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU)

To get your EI.

Notice OOS need to score 602 points higher to qualify.

My CP ‘source’ -someone who retired from the admisson office a few years ago, said departments rescore the gpa’s according to what coursework is important to the department. Then again, he doesn’t work there anymore.

-sara

sara is right.

on the app, you calculate your gpa by including your 10th and 11th grades with up to 8 extra honors points.

then admissions goes back through it and adds in your 9th grades and any courses you’ve taken at a college (a college semester course counts as one years worth of an honors class)

That’s where it seems confusing. Site says you can get points for up to 8 semesters of honors for the last three years of hs, wouldn’t that include senior year? Or are they talking kids that have already graduated hs?

-sara

i think that means from freshman year, but i’m not sure. i assume when they recalculate if you haven’t included additional 8 in 10th and 11th, they’ll add them in for 9th? i don’t know… that doesn’t really make sense. they don’t get your senior grades til you graduate… so i doubt it has to do with those.

Uhhh this is completely unrelated to what you’re talking about now, but to answer sec1082’s question, I’ve had many many honors and AP courses, and a couple community college classes such as calculus, work experience, and whatnot.

Okay carry on!

Wow, I really hope I didnt’ screw up my application. That was really confusing now that I look back on it…

:/

So… It’s true that my chances are getting slimmer by the minute? It seems like students with impressive statistics have already been accepted.

Congrats to everyone who has gotten in so far! I applied as a political science major. Has anyone heard who applied as a poly sci major?

That’s what I’m thinking, gunsandbutter ):
My GPA is pretty low, but my SAT is either average/higher than most

I got admitted without impressive stats. I have a 3.3w/3.1uw gpa and 1500 on my SATI. Although my major is Graphic Communications. So i believe they admit according to major.

making it rain, what are you waiting on? What major? I’m waiting for psych myself, and I’m in a similar situation; low GPA, good SATs, primo ECs and 100% of work related to major. We’ll see what happens…

Business, my EC are pretty exceptional and I have work, but it’s not really directed towards my major (well, tutoring for business?..lol I guess not).

Ah, I saw your stats on the previous page. Mine are similar! Around a 3.2W GPA (I know, bleh) and a 1920 SAT (1290/1600) with pretty good SATII’s as well.

:) Sweet dude. I’ll keep you in my admission prayers. Ugh, I feel like I won’t get in. I kinda just wanna know already so I don’t have this false hope flying around! LAME!

I thought Cal Poly didn’t take your SAT IIs?

has anyone been accepted for psychology yet? i’m waiting on child development (which is in the same department)

Yeah, Calpoly doesn’t take SAT II’s, but I had to take them for UC’s so I guess Calpoly is going to see them anyway.

Thanks gunsandbutter. You’re in my admissions prayers as well (: Did you apply to any UC’s? I’m really hoping I get into some in case Calpoly doesn’t accept me (Irvine, SD).

Ugh, no determination today. I’m starting to think I got rejected…

makin it rain - we have similar stats (my gpa is a little higher) and i have yet to hear anything for business also and I am getting mildly worried.

I have a 3.8W GPA and a 1910 SAT.
Work related to major.

Your GPA is A LOT higher, haha.

I didn’t apply to any UCs, too much money for me. I doubt I’d get into any of my favorites anyway!

It’s SF State for me if Cal Poly doesn’t want me and SDSU’s wait list doesn’t work out. Which I’m cool with.

Samantha - I applied under psych too, haven’t heard anything. I haven’t heard of any psych applicants who have heard yet either. Hmm, what an awkward sentence
