Why does the “new” checkbox disappear from threads in which I have NOT read the newer posts?

It’s not a matter of if you’ve read them or not. It’s a matter of whether they’re new posts since you last visited.

Oh.
That isn’t exactly useful, is it? LOL.
So there is no way to track where you left off in a thread?

This is a pet peeve of mine with CC. Sometimes I log on and only have time to read one forum out of the 3 or 4 I try to keep up with. When I log back on later that day and go to the other forums, even unread posts are marked as read (unbolded). Very annoying!

The forum on city-data.com uses the same software as CC but does not mark posts as read until they are actually read, even if I log on several times a day. Why can’t CC do the same?

It’s entirely possible that I am just missing something here, but I haven’t noticed this issue. Could it be something in your settings?

I was just on maybe a half hour ago and the same stuff that I haven’t read is marked as it was before.

Ema, here’s an example – I logged off this afternoon at around 3:30 after catching up on all the posts in the 3 forums I looked at. Tonight I logged on at about 7:30 but shut down my laptop without reading any threads because I got busy in the kitchen. I got back online at 8 and opened CC. In the upper right of the screen, it said I was last online at 7:42 PM. All the posts that were posted between 3:30 and 7:42 were shown as read (unbolded) even though I didn’t see them yet. The only ones in bold were posted after 7:42.

If there’s a setting somewhere, I sure haven’t found it. And as I said, city-data.com doesn’t work the same way although it’s the same forum software.
