I got rejected to all the UC’s I applied to. UCM UCR UCSC UCSB.
What’s the point in living
Luckily your are in CA where there is a well established path through the CCs.
@BrownParent what does that mean?
It means you can transfer to a UC.
99.99% of people in the US didn’t go to a UC, and they get a life.

@Brotherbear. Sorry to hear about all the denials, unfortunately, your Stats were low for all the UC’s. What are your backups? Some Cal States?? It is been a tough year for all college admissons and many applicants have over estimated their chances. Like @luckie1367 posted above, you can transfer into the UC’s using TAG and attending your local CCC. There are many different paths to get what you want, it just may take longer. http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/guarantee/
Good Luck to you.
@Gumbymom cal poly pomona
So sorry Brotherbear. I know it must be so disappointing. Unfortunately, I don’t think your list of schools, including CPP, was very realistic. It’s not that your grades were horrible, but that there are a lot of really top students applying to the UC’s and to the top Cal States (CPSLO, CPP, SDSU, and CSULB among others). The good news is that you can save a lot of money by going the community college route and then transferring to a 4 year program. Nobody cares where you start out but only where you graduate from. The nice thing about cc is that you can take the time to figure out exactly where your interests lie, without spending a ton of money. I know it seems like a lot to handle now, but do your best at a cc and it will be time to apply to a 4 year before you know it.
If you go to CC - take school seriously and give it your all, you can get into UCLA or UCB. There are second chances.
What major did you get accepted to for Cal Poly Pomona? I still haven’t received a decision from them, which I’m pretty sure means rejection…
Maybe I misunderstood, Brotherbear. We’re you accepted to CCP? If so, it is a great option.
“The point of living” is that this college acceptance game is not real life. It’s not a judgment on you, it’s a judgment on the information on an application, read and evaluated in less than 20 minutes by someone you’ve never met and who will never meet you.
There are thousands of colleges in this country that would be a great fit for you, and a good number of them are still accepting applications.
Chin up, BrotherBear, we’re pulling for you! You’ll find your way.
@Brotherbear, congrats on your acceptance to Cal Poly!
That’s great. My DD would live to attend a CA college. Good for you!
Yes I got accepted to Cal Poly Pomona for Business Admin
Congratulations on CPP for Business Administration. Admissions to all California public universities was made especially difficult this year because of budget issues (some money’s been allocated to CSUs finally). Make sure to take statistics and math seriously, and add an “interesting” minor that’ll set you apart from other Business administration majors (art history?)
If you really want to go to a UC, choose one that has a TAG with community colleges, take the IGETC classes, do veyr veyr well, and transfer there.
(Neither UCLA nor UCB have a TAG so cross them out and focus on the others).
If you let your “life worth” be determined by a bunch of admissions officers that is your first problem. Admissions is a crapshoot and all kinds of things (athletics etc. ) are taken into account during that process. The fact is you got into an excellent school. IMO the most reasonable course of action is to take a deep breath, sulk about the UCs for a day or two if your must , enroll in Cal Poly Pomona, buy a t-shit and hoodie, and then go off and work hard and have a great experience there.
Perhaps you are exaggerating. But if you really really feel that life is not worth living, go talk to a real live person – a guidance counselor, pastor, someone who can help you deal with this.
W(T)F is wrong with Cal Poly Pomona? Sorry, I don’t usually say much about CA universities, but my dad is an alumni from there for undergrad, and he thought it was a very good school, very focused on undergrad education. He got a degree from there in Chemistry and went on to grad school at UArizona and on into a career as an industry scientist. It’s not a mark of shame to go there… sheesh. And yes, your life is worth living.
@MYOS1634 Thank you
