RHS (Resident Honors Program) 2009

Sorry - I realized I never answered the original question. First, towards end of January (25thish), I received a general acceptance package from USC. Then, I got the Pres. Scholarship info letter. Well, wait, I think I first plugged my ID onto the Explore USC website to determine if I had qualified. THEN, I got the Resident Honors Letter in a nice red folder. So, for all of those interested if you have qualified for a scholarship, go to the EXPLORE USC (I can find it if someone needs it) website and plug in your ID. But then again, there could be other ways. I am a bit of a cerebral klutz in this process; I know very little.

Ahhhhhhh!!!
Now I am in full panic mode.
I went to EXPLORE USC and plugged in my ID, but it didn’t work. Which means they don’t have me in their system as an accepted student. THEREFORE, at this point in time…I probably didn’t get in. :</p>

WAIT, DON’T LISTEN TO THE PREVIOUS MESSAGE.
FIVE MINUTES AFTER I WROTE IT, PENNY FROM RHP CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT I GOT IN!!!

So if you plug your ID into EXPLORE USC and it doesn’t work, it doesn’t mean anything! She says I’m in the second batch of recipients, and she’s calling so that I don’t get worried or forget about it. I don’t think she’s calling EVERYONE, so don’t fret if you don’t get a call.

I WAS SO NERVOUS ON THE PHONE, I THOUGHT SHE WAS GONNA THINK I’M A ■■■■■■ AND CHANGE HER MIND.

CONGRATS ROSINYANGSTER AND BLUESKYJADEGLOBE!!!

Right now I’m sort of filled with happiness for, yet envy of, both of you =D

I’m so nervous right now!!!

Sprout: That statistic makes things look better. Thanks.

My greatest and most sincere congratulations to Vicki and BlueSkyJadeGlobe. May you both succeed, whether or not you participate, and I wish you the best in life.

Now, I put in my info on Explore USC and got zero response as well. But . . . time is ticking . . . no magic telephone call. Zut. ('Course, it is 11 at night, I don’t think there’s anyone in the office. But still.)

I really hope I get in. However, I am afflicted by a periodic and unstable feeling that I will get in, especially after re-reading my resume for about the tenth time since I submitted it. Alas, for this fact I will probably end up crying with a denial in my hand.

I got a call from Penny yesterday too! Yay!

hey, i got a call too! but how do you know that you’re in?

Because Penny said so…It’s fairly straightforward. What did the person tell you on the phone? Penny said I was in the second batch of decision letters. She said she’s calling so that I don’t worry, because they’re very interested in me and hope to meet me next year. She said there will be an invitation soon for Explore USC, and mine is scheduled in March. What did she say to you guys, sprout5981 and dopaminescene?

Essentially the same thing

Hey sprout, rosinyangster, and dopa:

I’m just wondering, did you guys submit your part 1 application before doing your part 2 online?

Right now I’m hoping that I didn’t get a call yet because I didn’t do it in order :)

No call.

Congratulations to you also, Sprout! And dopaminescene!

Hey, are any of you who have already received a call from California? Because if not, that gives the rest of us still a chance.

Oh, and I tried the Explore USC ID submital again, and it worked. Kinda. I did receive a phone call, from my little brother’s reading tutor, to cancel her appointment. : /

OMG. PENNY WAS SO CRYPTIC ON THE PHONE WITH ME AND I DIDN’T MAKE IT ANY EASIER lol.
i WISH she just said that straight out. for me, she said my app was terrific and was telling me all about how i can check out their programs and stuff.
so i had NO idea what the hell she was saying!

haha. but i emailed her asking about it, and she told me practically flat out “yes!” in the email lol.

i’m DEF going to explore usc because my parents are like “don’t pass up on an opportunity!” and stuff. and then based on campus, etc, i’ll make my decision. see you there, vicki!

Congrats everyone!
I got the call too!! Well I got a phone message. She said she’d really like to talk to me on Tuesday about coming to USC. It’s not explicitly saying I was accepted, but good sign anyway, I guess. I’m ****ed i didn’t answer so I squeeze out some more info. I stopped answering my house phone years ago when all my friends started calling my cell. I even remember when it rang and the debate in my head whether to answer it or not…

poirot, i live in CA, dont worry, i was getting annoyed the past week reading about everyone else getting calls too, it probably just takes time getting around to everyone.

lol, sorry i didnt realized a certain adjective meaning mad said in terms of a urinary function would be censored, its just that, not anything else

You definitely still have a chance. Remember, officially, we were told we’d hear back in April. The February period is just for scholarships.

wait if they dont call you can you till get in?

also one more question if you call in admissions is that good?

Yeah, of course. Calling probably just means they want to schedule scholarship interviews. The majority, id think, just receive the letter in March Aprilish. Apparently everyone’s been calling in, so go ahead. You’re not going to stand out for calling, and even then, they wouldnt let that affect your application in any way. Before today I did my best not to think about it too much. Everythings sent in, trust the universe to sort itself out. Good luck to everyone else. Rosinyangster, Sprout, and Dopamine, lets check it out together, yeah?
