DH had always insisted that our kids would sleep in their own rooms from Day One. Romani, the first night we brought S1 home from the hospital, darned if DH didn’t try to drag the full-size crib through the bedroom door from S’s room to ours. Of course, the crib was too wide. But I totally get the new dad anxiety. DH would always stare at the guys until he saw the rise and fall of little chests.
@romanigypsyeyes —adorable photos of your beloved dog guarding and cuddling REN!
Oh my Yes!
I wasn’t quite sure how she would react because she can be quite energetic sometimes. We’re slowly getting her to learn no face kisses. Other than that she’s been fantastic.
Every time Ren cries, she tries to get into the pack n play we sleep and change him in. She is a whole new level of worried momma hen lol.
Maybe now Mr R will get some rest knowing that Puppy R is on duty!
Love the pics of your pooch guarding Ren!
Also, you look great in the pics! Very well rested look for a brand new mom!
Mr R has been amazing in letting me sleep. I’m pretty used to the multi phase sleeping too because that’s how I was during most of my pregnancy. I was already well-conditioned to “sleep when baby sleeps.”
Ren “met” Mr R’s parents yesterday through the window. Luckily my FIL has been incredibly understanding about not wanting to expose Ren to possible disease. My MIL still thinks we’re being a bit ridiculous but oh well.
^ the way I always look at decisions: you have to live with yourself.
Thank you so much for posting new pictures! Babies and pooches and happy new parents are the treasures in life these days!!!
Late but CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Lots of kisses to Ren and his pooch protector.
@romanigypsyeyes I sent you a PM
I just refreshed the photos page and I just love how your dog has welcomed Ren into the house and how protective s/he looks! What a pleasure to see these updates each day. I hope you’re feeling well, @romanigypsyeyes.

Wow, looks like I have missed a lot, having been gone for so long!.It’s good to hear some happy news after so much stress and tragedy lately. It reminds you that life goes on, even in the middle of bad times. Thankfully. Congratulations!
Oooh, that kissable face!
Several years ago, our lake house neighborhood was engulfed in horrible wildfires. Our street was spared, but much of the entire peninsula was merely black trees and gray ash when we drove through it the first time. I sobbed the entire drive to our house.
A month later, we came back to check on things, and while the black trees were still there, there was so much green poking through the ash, and wildflowers were blooming everywhere. I remember saying “even in the middle of total destruction, life still finds a way.”
That’s what I thought in the days leading up to Ren’s birth-reading about romani’s preparation and the joy of the birth and Ren’s daily improvement.
Life still finds a way.
Love this. ^^^^^
