Yes, Moon-spinners is a fun ‘young love’ romantic thriller. I picked this up on the cheap as I have fond memories of this as a boy. It held up pretty well particularly the great Windmill scene. I also enjoy the scene when the young Greek boy (seeing the two leads hug) says “No time make love.”

For much more adult romantic fare with some steam, L’APPARTEMENT (1996). However, this romantic French language film is not for everyone as some don’t deal well with subtitles. Also if you don’t like films where the story is an enigma wrapped in mystery - avoid like the plague.

My favorite romantic movie of all time (also my favorite movie, period): The Apartment. As a dweebish guy myself, I am naturally a sucker for a story about a dweebish guy gradually winning his beloved’s heart away from the charismatic sleazebag she’s addicted to.

Another movie that feels romantic to me, even though the romance is more between a person and a place than between any two people, is Bill Forsyth’s Local Hero.

Love Actually, sure. I don’t know if there’s any more romantic scene in the history of film than Andrew Lincoln’s silent confession to Keira Knightley in the doorway. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about it.

emeraldkity4, I didn’t get 500 Days of Summer either. And I’ve been a card-carrying Zooeyphile ever since I saw Hitchhiker’s Guide, so I had high hopes.

Agree with a lot of movies already mentioned - my favorite all-time romantic movie however is Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. I was fortunate enough to observe a day of filming on Mackinac Island (dating myself but I was in HS then!). What an ending - you cannot watch the final scene with dry eyes…

Somewhere in Time (used the music at my wedding)
Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth version)
Starman
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir
Hmm, hopeless romance theme here…

Another made in Seattle movie- that actually has a lot of romance in it( or chasing after romance)- even though I would have liked to see someone else in Campbell Scotts’ part- was Singles.

I watch it for the Pearl Jam cameos- but I enjoyed it before I was a big fan.

Matt Dillon ( and his wig) steal the show.

( Cameron Crowe is also currently filming a Pearl Jam documentary squeeee!)

I loved 500 Days of Summer. Maybe you have to have been told by someone you are dating that they will never get married only to find them married about 6 months later in order to get that movie…

Bookiemom…ditto, yes all of those and one more less recognized but not only I like the movie but also the music: Don Juan DeMarco (1995), Johnny Depp (Actor), Marlon Brando (Actor), Jeremy Leven.

When I hear this music I melt…it is one of my favorites! Oh yes…
